it happens almost always after he eats or drinks water.
He doesn't actually throw up anything, except for one time, and that was a trace amount of bile. I sometimes wonder if he's eating or drinking too fast. It sounds kind of like a hoarse cough. My vet didn't think that it was kennel cough, so that's a relief. When giving him water I give him the brita water that I drink lol, I personally don't like tap water and I don't want to give it to my dog either. Think he might have the wrong food? I feed him Wellness Super5 puppy food. I'm open to any opinions, don't be afraid of offending me! All I want is to make sure Gizmo's okay. ![]() |

What concerns me is how often is happens. Have you ever discussed megaesophagus with your vet? Try raising his food and water dishes so he can stand comfortably to eat and drink from them. See if he gets any relief that way.

Actually my vet mentioned that megaesophagus could be the reason as to why he's doing this. He did say though that it's not very common in toy breeds, is mainly more in the larger breeds.
it's not *every* time he eats, but it's common. I'll try raising the food dishes and see if that helps him a bit. Although unsure of how to do this, like put a phonebook or something under them to raise them a bit? |

Just make sure that he can still get to them without straining but high enough where he has to stand and lift his head a bit to get to the bowls. If that seems work then honestly I'd be talking to your vet more about Xrays or a barium test ( Xray over Barium if at all possible ) to rule out megaesophagus. jmo |

I will try that out and see if it helps. What excactly is megaesophagus? I did a google search and it said that if he does have that, then I might have to feed small portions of a high-caloric food for life.
That doesn't bother me, I just don't want him to deteriorate on me. ![]() |
