It's funny that I should stumble across this post, I have been doing alot of reading about "raw" honey and all the medicinal purposes that is posesses. I was wondering the same thing, could we give a bit to the "gang" I have tried to find out what I can about giving it to dogs, however, I havent found any real facts. Anyone know for sure????

I have used honey as a thoat soother when Lucy had an irritated trachea from collapse. The vet recommended it and it worked wonders. It is also the exclusive sweetner in our house

Honey as a treat is fine, but it does contain a high amount of sugar which isn't that great for dogs.

For human babies, at any rate, there's an enzyme in it which binds with something or other.....vitamins (?) (I forget) but it shouldn't be given. There could be something that happens to dogs on that order. I really don't know, but just think about it....it's not something they'd eat much in the wild would they? (unless, like a bear, they happen to score and come upon it) It doesn't seem like a natural thing for them to eat. Mostly dogs eat meat.

Carrie, I don't know if this is what you're thinking, but Honey can contain, or maybe does contain a bacteria that can cause boccalism (sp?) type symptoms and illness, especially in babies and young dogs. Adults, the human and dog kind, can handle it, but dogs with weakened immune systems should not have honey.

Well................actually, the supplements some people might feed, you know, missing link, oil tablets, things like that, I don't give my guys any so I don't know, I do remember reading about those. I don't think you find them in "the wild" either
