loose stool
today, amlet had an accident inside and his stool was really loose, it absorbed into the carpet. it was normal colored, just runny. can dogs just have occasional digestive upsets? yesturday he ate some carrots, apples, some of his food, and a few treats. he's running around and playing and stuff, so he seems fine now. yesturday, i took him on kinda a long car ride, and he threw up twice (he usually gets car sick on longer trips) so i think he didn't end up eating alot yesturday after that even though he was fine later in the day too. i get worried so easily. could too many treats give him this problem too? i think i'm giving him too many of those anyway.

I am sure that his stomach was still upset from the carride yesterday, plus the apples.
Apples can upset some stomaches, especially if he ate the seeds. I'd watch him for the rest of the day, but if he seems normal, he probably is. |

Well, more than likely its the treats and car ride rather than an illness if he ate too many. Carrots really don't digest well and too much apple will give a dog the runs. If he is acting normally, drinking normally and doesn't seem to be bothered by it then he probably is over it.
![]() Just keep an eye on his water intake ( make sure he drinks ) and watch for further loose stool. If this happens and he begins to not act normally then you may want to contact your vet. |

Yes, Winston definitely has days where I can tell he snagged a piece of popcorn off the sidewalk, LOL. But if it lasts more than two days, ask your vet for a fecal consult... Winston picked up a bacterial infection at one point and needed antibiotics to treat it.

oh..so apples and carrots can upset their stomachs? i read up on things that are ok for pets and i give him apples and carrots a lot..he loves apples. i dont give him the cores though, i know about the arsenic or whatever. he is a little guy too, so i bet too much of anything can affect him.

Do you give him Greenies?
Peanut butter also upsets puppy tummies. You might try giving him a little bit of canned pumpkin (1/2 teaspoon max.) and seeing if that helps. (Make sure it's pure pumpkin, not pumpkin pie mix.) |

Beni used to get sick to his stomach after eating carrots. Oh, but how he loved them! It was his guilty pleasure. Gizmo had loose stools, bloody at first when I brought him home, it turned out to be Giardia.
I'm not saying that's the case, but if it persists I agree with the sentiment of getting a vecal exam done. Better to know than to not know... but that's my opinion. ![]() |
