Fire place Question

I am not sure this is in the right place.. (I hope so) LOL

Buddy likes to lay on our firelace hearth, I am guessing becuase it's been cooler there than the rest of the house. He also likes to lay on the vent when the AC is on. My question is.. since I love to use the fireplace-- will he learn that it's too hot for him and stay away from it? Or do i have to start working on teaching him not to go there?

He will try to sniff around the oven when we open the door.. we always shoo him off and say HOT NO BUDDY.

When it gets cold he still might lay there and warm himself up. They know when it's too hot and will move. Our cat will turn to warm himself on all sides!
