Help!!!
Help! Theo, my dog who has kidney failure, has be incontinent for about 2 months now...so he wears a diaper....well anyway tonight, he keeps wanting to go outside constantly(like once an hour), so I let him out and in his diaper is tons of blood! It is in little clumps and I'm worried! Are they blood clots? What do I do? It is too late to take him to the vet today and he seems to be really uncomfortable....what should I do?

Call your vet. Chances are there will be a recording to an after hours emergency number, if not, call other vets until you locate one... I don't think your dog should wait til morning.

Would they really help? My mom thinks that they would just charge us hundreds of dollars just to hear them say that there was nothing that they could do or that we should just put him to sleep(which is out of the question)...and I do not think that there is a vet clinic around here that is open right now....Is there anything else that I could do?

There isn't anything that you can do for him there at home but at the very least if you take him in they can make it so he can be comfortable.
Obviously there is no cure for kidney failure but that doesn't mean your baby should be in pain or uncomfortable. Please take him in. |

He is more comfortable now, after he went outside again....How would the vet make him more comfortable? I really want to take him in and I will try to convince my mom.....

I hope Theo is feeling better. I have been a nurse for people over 20 years and you really need to speak to a vet at least tonight. If he has blood clots coming out of him, that means chances are their are more inside of him and bloodclots are dangerous. I am not trying to scare you, but its very very important that you call someone even if they are not in your local area. I am sure they can direct you in the proper direction to get you Theo some help. Vet cost is very exspensive we all know that but you Theo has a very serious condition going on here from what you are describing. I wish you and Theo the best and you will be in our prayers. If you dont get anywhere tonight tomorrow monring get his regular vet.

I am not sure if they are blood clots....that was just a guess....they are little clumps of blood that are in his diaper....would those be blood clots? He is feeling better now, he is contently laying on the couch sleeping and looks very happy...he ate some dog biscuits for me and seemed to enjoy them  ...he hasn't needed to go out again for a while and when he does I let him out but he doesn't really go....I don't understand.....Well anyway, I am gonna try to get him to his regular vet in the morning as they are not open until 8am and do not have an emergency number or anything like that....Please pray for his healing...Thanks! |

Thank You for the concern! Theo woke up this morning feeling better! He is going to the bathroom normal again and he is eating normal again too
