Just wondering why my boy brought up his entire supper within 10 minutes of eating it. He seems fine otherwise, should I be concerned about something brewing and are there other signs I should look for?
Silly boy, he brings up the whole meal then goes back to his bowl in hopes of finding something else. I don't dare feed him again or should I? Any ideas would be appreciated, it sure has me stumped. ![]() |

is this a one time thing? sometimes amlet will eat way too fast and throw up, then eat it. or, a couple of times he played really rough after a meal and threw up a little too. if he seems fine, i can't imagine that he isn't. just watch him and make sure he doesn't display any other behaviors.

Yes, it's been a very long time since he's done that...you know cocker's they don't give up their food easily
Do you think I should give him some more food? Cause I picked up what he brought up. Yuuuck! |

My male is a 'gulper' and wolfs his food down too fast, fairly often. He then vomits it back up. If there's no other signs of illness, like: listlessness, diarrhea, continuing vomiting... I wouldn't worry.
There's a couple of things you can do to slow him down. Try giving smaller, more frequent meals. (If he eats 2 cups of kibble a day, divide it into 1 cup meals-twice a day, or even 1/2 cup meals-four times a day.) You can also place a large clean rock in his bowl, and then pour the kibble around it. He has to work harder to get the kibble from around it, and thus is slowed down. ![]() Best of luck! |

Any time a dog vomits immediately after eating it is wise to wait 24 hours before feeding it again. This gives the stomache some time to rest and readjust. Then it is usually suggested to start out with rice and beef, or something else bland in small amounts. If this is tolerated well then you can resume with his normal food.

Thanks to all for the responses. I wondering though, he only gets 1/2 cup twice a day...I bought those large stainless steel bowl so that the kibble is just one layer(if you know what I mean) in the hopes that would slow him down. Guess I'll have to try Rottnpagan's trick of a large rock..could be fun though, it snowed about 3-4 inches today! Yes, dogs do tend to inhale their food, unfortunately. I know he is hungry but I've cut back because of his weight...guess I'll just have to make sure he gets veggies in the afternoon.
By the way , is it ok to give him canned veggies, like green beans or should it remain a fresh veggies (for bulk) to help fill him up? |
