My Pregnant Rescue

OK, on the 31st of October we adopted a husky mix from animal control. To make a long story short we took her to the vet and found out she was pregnant. Last week the pups started moving and she was leaking milk.I basically just want to know when should she have the pups?

That would be difficult at best to say, did the vet give you any idea of how far along he or she thought she was? How was her pregnancy diagnosed? Was it by the doctor "feeling" her mid-section? Dams drop their milk at all different times before delivery.

Usually "feeling" or palpatation can first be done at about 30-35 days after breeding if pregnant. X-rays usually do not give much of a clear view before day 50 or so. So to even venture a guess we'd need to know how it was determined that she was pregnant. You'll need to start taking her temperature, the temp will go down at least one degree before whelping, a "normal" temperature is usually around 102 and will dump to 98 or 99. Once her temp reaches it's lowest point ( doesn't go any lower ) you can usually expect her to whelp within 24 hours.

Thanx for the input. Well, he palpated her. Then said he didn't think she was halfway through pregnancy. So...like I said last week the pups were moving REALLY well and she started leaking milk. So we called him back and he said "It'll be really soon!!!" So I'm guessing..maybe in her..9th week now? I just read the other posts about the lady adopting a pregnant husky mix like my Dottie. It was sweet.

If she is in her ninth week already then yes I'd say it will be very soon.

Also, if you haven't gone through this experience before and would like more information on what to expect I'd be happy to PM a few links to you.
