concerned owner

yes,i have a poodle and his name is Herbie.He is going on 13 years old.For the last couple of days he hasnt eaten but he has been drinking alot of water.He also has urinated with blood in it 2 times.I am very concerned and i have made an emergency appointment for him today at 2:00 pm.Im hoping maybe its kidney problems and can be fixed.He may be getting into the cat food and i have heard that it causes kidney problems.Anyone have any advise or know of similiar case?.....thnx <jay>....first time on forums<.

Jay, I dont have any advice other than to head to the vet which you are already doing.... it does sound like some kind of kidney ailment and I am sure that you will get some advice from your vet about what to do.

Goodness, it really does sound like a kidney problem. Best to take him off of dog food and put him on white rice & hamburger, with a little cold-pressed safflower, soy or corn oil, calcium, parsley, finely grated carrot or other vegetable, dog vitamins, B complex C, & A. Mix all together with food.

Hopefully it will be something easy to treat with antibiotics like a bladder infection. Yes, please let us know what the vet finds out. Fingers are crossed for you.
