dog coughing odd

for the last few days my dog is coughing as if he's got a hair in his throat. He eats, drinks, breathes, plays, basically acts normal, except for this coughing. He's tried to throw up whatever it is a couple times.

The vet says it might be allergies, but my dog has not been introduced into any new environments.....except for maybe salt water at the ocean. He did drink a lot of it cause he had liquid diahrea that night. that was a day or two before it started. any ideas?

Did the vet see if anything was lodged in his throat? The fact that he's not just coughing, but trying to throw something up, makes me think it isn't just a sore throat caused by salt water.

But, I'm not a vet. If it hasn't cleared up in a few days or if he starts acting abnormal, I'd take him in to a different vet for a second opinion.

Kennel cough is very likely.

I would get a second opinion, from a different vet.
