Puggles on the Tyra Banks Show

Oh, here we go again!

A gal just walked out on stage during Tyra's show holding a puppy. I was thinking, "Great! Always glad to watch a show with a puppy in it!".

How wrong I was. This gal started "hocking" puggles as the latest thing, quite pricy, and VERY hard to get. Yep, the old "supply and demand" sales angle. The show was about what's hot right now in fashion accesories, etc...

the other day Montel had three designer breeds on...a labradoodle, and two others I cant remember.... I was upset to say the least and had a few choice words that I will not repeat here.

Makes me sick. How does a small population of people actually concerned for the dog's well-being fight that kind of media representation?

That is why I am what my mother-in-law calls "anti-social"....there are too many stupid people in the world, and all of the intelligent ones are here in GP!!

Doesnt things like this just bug you. It just makes me so mad that these talk show host bring people on their show to sell mutts- why dont they make them selves usefull and bring people on their show that actually want to help with this issue. I havent yet once- that I've seen anyway- seen any talk show host bring on a member of a rescue or shelter, etc and talk about rescuing a pet instead of promoting these irresponsable people. I know there are plenty in shelters- why go pay $900 when you can donat $150 to $200 and get the same. Sure they had a ruff start but the joy is having a companion and making a difference in a animals life. In our local paper some one has an ad for munchkins and munchies- both are selling for over $500. This drives me CRAZY !!!!- I'm seein puppies for sale the ads say things like "great x-mas gift" - "will be ready intime for x-mas". Thats another issue but by golly they should no better then to sell a puppy as a gift with out asking the proper questions... Its toooooo sad to think that some will end up in shelters.. Just bugs the heck out of me the way people sell dogs for money- they're not just objects. Hey how would I go about asking the paper company to run a warning ad about giving a pet away and selling a pet a x-mas gift ??? I wont have much money to run an add my self due to christmas- do you think they'll run it for free ??

I saw that on Regis and Kellly not to long ago. Makde me sick. I betcha puppy millers are in overdrive with puggles, doodles etc. Poor dogs suffer at the hands of stupid people AGAIN

I wish that we could televise more dogshows - it seems like the general public really does enjoy them (in a year that Westminster and the Olympics were held at the same time, Westminster garnered more viewers), and often times there's an announcement that suggests buying a new pet from either a reputable breeder or an animal shelter. Westminster does this every year. It's a small start, but at least that's *one* example of where the common message in the media is being contradicted.
