Oh, now here's a new angle on the "latest trend". Borrowing a dog so you can "look" like a dog lover while out walking, and meet men.
Hmmm, let's see some of the "cool" new ways dogs can better serve mankind. Now we have: Used as fashon accessories Used to be trendy Used as stage props Used as man-bait Used as status symbols Now, what have I missed...and lord knows, what's next. Yep, we definately need a "barfing smilie"! |

Hello
![]() I saw this episode today as well, but I didn't really see it as a horrible thing. I saw it as a dog getting to go out for a walk, fresh air, and companionship. Of course we don't know the whole history of the dog, but it wasn't hurt in anyway so I don't see the real issue with this one. Just my opinion though. ![]() |

I agree. I can see having a dog with you makes it easier to start up a conversation with someone. Plus, you would get to see how the other person is with animals. |

Sorry but I don't believe in using people OR animals.

I think what bugs me about it are:
Pretending to be a dog lover, when maybe you're not? It's like lieing about who you are. I think they said the gals borrowed or "rented" the dog to do this. It reminded me a lot of the suggestion to men to "borrow" a baby, so they could walk around with it, and meet women., when maybe they don't even like kids. And, it's just adding one more way to "use" a dog superficially, in this current "trend" of shallowness. Truth is, dogs are a really "hot" item right now. But I'm finding this latest "fad", sad. But hey! If you love your dog and want to take him out for a walk to meet other dog lovers. Great! ![]() |

Oh wait, are these people pretending that the dogs are theirs? That would be kind of creepy. If not, I would want to know right off the bat if someone is good with animals or not. The main reason my fiance got a second date was because he was incredible with my horses
Guys that would notice you because you had a cute animal with you, probably are animal lovers. It doesn't make any sence to me why someone would pretend to like animals but toting a dog around with them. A good man would see right through you if you were pretending to like animals. |

You're right Jenny, any good man will know immediately if *she* is a dog lover or a con artist. It never pays to pretend you are something you're not ( including a dog lover ) it will come back to haunt you.

I think it's commonly called "the bait and switch"(...sounds like a new kind of dog training!). The buyer is drawn in by a lure, which isn't really what the seller is intent on selling. Now the seller has the buyer on site, (who is ready to buy), but the original item is no longer available. It never really existed anyway. So now the seller can switch the buyer off onto a more expensive or less quality item. I wonder what kind of girls, (who don't like dogs), would go out and borrow a dog for the pupose of deceiving a guy, (who does like dogs), just so they could take the dog back at the end of the day, and get the guy's attention switched over to them. I'll tell you what kind of girls...Ones who are probably a lot more expensive than a dog, to be sure! This was a deception. I suppose it's a good way to weed out the dumb guys, though. It won't take a smart guy with a dog long to figure out you are definately NOT a dog person. This is about "intent". If you love dogs, but don't have one, you'll probably find ways to be around them and bump into a lot of nice people who share your interest, dogs! This is an honest meeting. Again, I probably wouldn't be as sensitive to this, if all these latest trends weren't geared towards using a dog for.......Well, the list just keeps getting longer. Add enough stressers onto a dog, and they can add up to a bite. I guess I'm trying to take a bite out of the problem. I think Dr. Phil should have asked the gals, what their interests were, and got them headed in that direction, so they could meet guys who actually liked the same activities. Or maybe he did. I don't know, because I bit down on my remote, and the TV switched channels! Now, I don't want to go off on a rant here... ![]() |

Wow, I wouldn't think that pretending you love dogs infront of a potential beau would do you any good, if you really don't like dogs. Why on earth would you want to go out with an animal lover if you don't like animals. I am so confused!

Hum...it hasn't worked yet...
![]() If my cute dog can get me a cute guy, I won't complain. In the meantime, my dog and I will be single gals about town. |
