That is indeed very interesting. I was told by a friend who watched the news last night that he saw a quip about scientists who traced the DNA of a dog all the way back to it's supposed origins and the findings were that human beings and dogs originated from the same DNA....that we have common ancestors. Now, isn't that food for thought? The piece he saw on the news was just a highlight, so there weren't many details.

One thing abou all this DNA evidence and sharing it with other animals proving that (or being used as proof) that we have all evolved from a common ancestor bothers me a little bit. Who's to say that it had to come from the same ancestors??? I'm suprised I've never heard this argument before, but think about it, What is DNA?? its a bunch of protiens hydrogen, and sulfide bonds. Basically they are just building blocks that are arranged in certain sequences to make things right?? Well it makes sense to me that since we all live in a world of gravity, in a world where we have certain things to eat, and must have the right components (an esophagus, stomach, cells in the stomach to start digestion, etc) to digest the food. We all have to breath air (at least animals that use air to live, not talking anaerobic BacT here) and must have the same components to breath and use that air right?? So why wouldn't we share a lot of common DNA with other animals since we all need to have a lot of the same things.

its like building a house, almost every single house in this country has wood studs and the same basic parts, did they all come from the same tree??? I guess in a way they could have if you go back far enough but i just used it as a simple analogy. It might not even be a good one, i just thought of it off the top of my head, but do you see what i'm trying to say? SInce life on this planet is supported in only a few ways that we know of, it would make sense that the building blocks used to make those parts would be largely the same across species. I'm going to end now before I confuse myself.

I don't know....I didn't see this thing that my bf told me about. But apparently, the gist was, that there was something uniquely similar about dogs and humans' genes or DNA. Also, mice and Chimps resemble our building blocks more closely than other animals. It may have something to do with the arrangement. I really don't know. But I would like to have seen a real program about this.
