Wow, that had to be the most terrifying thing for that officer and how amazing that the dog lived through it! I'm so glad the story had a good ending for the handler and his dog. Just goes to show you how focused our LEO K9s really are and the lengths they'll go to do their job.

I'm sorry to hear that the suspect died, what a terrible thing for his family....especially since it didn't have to end that way.

Wow, 150 ft. I've heard of that happening before. Dog is so intent on suspect that he goes where ever the guy goes, including traffic, over bridges, down culverts, etc.

Amazing story!

I got the chills when I saw that. Wow! I probably would have fainted if my dog did that...unless they teach you not to faint in the police academy.

Thank goodness for happy endings. It's a miracle that dog not only lived, he didn't even have a broken bone.

It is amazing he didn't break any bones, but I'm sure he's hurtin' quite a bit. They said he had some internal injuries, which i'm sure just the impact from landing was enough to get his insides knocked around quite a bit and bruised them up. I've very suprised though, that no bones gave out and no organs were actually ruptured in that fall. He did look rather content just to lay around though, i'd like to see an update in a couple weeks or however long it takes and see if he's back on patrol again. I seem to remember reading that he was only about 3 so lots of good years left ahead of him.

I think he landed on the bad guy. Good thing the guy could at least break his fall.

I always like a story with a happy ending! But I must say the tone of the reporter saying the suspect died kinda made it sound like "that mean man deserved it". I might be reading into it a little bit but that seems to be the spin.
