Dogs Trust Helping Homeless Dogs This Christmas - K9 Magazine

Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity will extend its Hope Project this Christmas to provide doggy hampers for homeless dogs at Christmas opening hostels and project across the UK.

The Hope Project has been helping dogs whose owners are homeless or in a housing crisis since 1994. The scheme was set up to provide free preventative veterinary care for dogs and advice for their homeless owners, but this year Dogs Trust Hope Project will set out to make sure these dogs have a great Christmas by providing doggy hampers full of treats, leads, collars, and coats to keep them warm.

The Hope Project provides a vital service to these dogs and their owners and the charity is urging Christmas specific homelessness organisations and projects to get in touch and register their interest in receiving doggy bags. The charity also works with these projects to ensure they are able to accept clients with dogs, with the designing and setting up of ‘dog areas’, and advise on all things dog-related.

Dogs Trust staff will also provide homeless dog owners with advice and assistance at selected projects, including Crisis Open Christmas in London, which offers companionship, access to essential services, learning opportunities and entertainment over the Christmas period for the capitals homeless.
