Beach for dogs to celebrate coming of New Year

TAMANO, Okayama -- A private beach designed exclusively for dogs in Okayama Prefecture will open its gates for them to swim at on Jan. 1, the company that owns the beach said. The company in Okayama has decided to allow dogs to swim at the beach so their owners can look at the sunrise with their pets on New Year's Day in celebration of the coming of 2006, the Year of Dog. Dogs can swim at the beach in Tamano from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Jan. 1. Up to 100 dog owners will be treated to a cup of amazake, hot sweet sake, and rice cakes will be given to 50 dogs. |
