Alcohol and a Stupid woman gets 2 Dogs killed

Read this in my local newspapers today:

"Drunk woman in Auckland sets her dogs on cops - Wellington

A DRUNKEN woman unleashed a pair of pit bull terriers on two New Zealand policemaen responding to a domestic dispute, sending them scrambling to their patrol car, where she kicked in the windscreen.

Gunshots and pepper spray could not deter the angry dogs, which hurled themselves at the car's windows, said Detective Senior Sergeant (DSS) Neil Grimstone in the nothern city of Auckland.

The "intoxicated and aggressive female", meanwhile "jumped up onto the bonnet of the car and smashed the patrol vehicle's windscreen with her feet", he said.

Back-up officers arrived and tried unsuccessfully to negotiate with the woman. One of the dogs charged at the police officers and was shot. The woman also attacked the officers and was arrested, he said.

DSS Grimstone said the shooting still did not deter either dog, with the wounded one again turning on the poilce - and being shot a second time.

"The dog, only after being shot twice, then ran off", he said.

Both animals were later impounded and were to be destroyed, he said.

The woman, aged 27 but not identified by the police, faced charges of assault with a weapon, intentional damage, disorderly behaviour and resisting police. DSS Grimstone said more serious charges were likely.

"There is no question that the woman is totally responsible for the demise of these animals. Drunken, violent, aggressive and confrontational behaviour like this will not be tolerated", he said.

It's a shame some people use their dogs in such a violent manner. I saw on Animal cops where a lady let her pit bull out to attack a lady cop. It grabbed the girls hand and wouldn't let go for quite sometime. Her had was in very bad shape and she had to have several surgeries on it.

Another case of a terrible dog owner with no common sense.

Sounds like the owner is a lot more dangerous than the dogs...as usual...

I think I saw that episode of animal cops. I hate seeing dogs being used for bad and not good. It just breaks my heart.

And they wonder why some breeds get a bad rap. Probably wouldn't have made the paper if the woman had 2 Chi's and sent them into attack mode. Not taking anything from a Chi, it's the Pitbull thing I'm getting at.

It's too bad that people like this own dogs. This is one of the reasons pit bulls have such a bad reputation

My first reaction was that it was a pity that one of the dogs didn;t leap up at the cop's hand just as he was pulling the trigger sending the bullet right in between the woman's eyes.
