Do Dogs Have Regional Accents?

Disney has commissioned a panel of dog experts to find out whether dogs have regional accents or have any other region specific mannerisms.

The company wants to know if dogs, like one of the dogs in Lady and The Tramp, have their own local accents?

If you think your dog has star quality and can help Disney with this UK wide search then call one of the following freephone numbers to leave your name, address, a contact phone number plus a recording of your dog's bark:

London 0800 977 8072
The Midlands 0800 977 8073
The West 0800 977 8074
Scotland 0800 977 8075
Wales 0800 977 8076
The North 0800 977 8078

All barks to be received by Friday 20th January 2006.

The panel of dog experts will be examining all the evidence from six different regions around the UK and your dog could be part of the research for your local area. Call today to record your dog.

Anecdotal as it may be, I can say with certainty, I've never heard a dog bark with a southern drawl.

They may need to call in Henry Higgins to assess the situation. Remember....he was the dialectitian in My Fair Lady. He could tell what street someone lived on by their accent. LOL.

Just thinking about all the different barking sounds I've heard from dogs, and you know what.........I think most of them are trying to imitate human sounds.
