No 'dog's life' for country pooches

A study by Monash University in Melbourne has found country dogs are happier than their city counterparts. The study involved 400 dog owners from city and rural areas. Dr Jacqui Ley from the Animal Welfare Science Centre at Monash says the results were very clear. "People whose dogs were living in the country actually said, 'my dog is friendlier, more easy going' than dogs who live in the city, less neurotic, the scores were quite different there, compared with dogs living in the city," she said. "So there must be something about the way rural dogs are living that just makes life a bit easier for them." |
