Fire kills 6 dogs; firefighters save 1

From wire reports

SAN ANTONIO — Firefighters rescued a dog from an overnight fire that claimed the lives of six other dogs. The homeowners were not home Monday when the fire started at about 1 a.m. When they arrived, they told firefighters about the dogs trapped inside. One of the homeowners tried to go inside to rescue the pets, but police kept her from entering. According to firefighters, five dogs died in the house.
