I see this being abused by irresponsible people.
![]() However, having said that...assuming it's safe, it could be a good way to start weightloss in morbidly obese pets. Hopefully it won't become a substitute for feeding a good diet and giving the animal exercise but like I said to begin with...I see the potential for abuse with this even if it's monitored by a vet (like with doctors, not all are reputable). I don't understand why people don't just exercise their pets. It costs them absolutely NOTHING to do, and you couldn't even begin to put a dollar amount on the benefits the owner and the pet would recieve from doing it. This is a sorry excuse and lazy. 90% of the meds for humans should be outlawed, I can't even put into words what I think of this for pets without being heavily edited by the moderators. To sum it up, if your dog is overweight, get off your butt.

I do not see the need for diet pills for dogs. Dogs need more exercise and less food. Walking dogs gives good exercise to the owners too.

How about feeding an appropriate amount of good quality food that isn't chalk full of carbs and fillers AND getting off your butt and exercising the dog?
Did anyone read the side effects? I highly doubt people who can't be bothered to feed a healthy diet or exercise their dog are going to want to deal with diarrhea ![]() |

My sister told me last night about this and about a woman that had a 42 pound Pembroke Corgi!! That's about 12 pounds or so too much for this breed. She said the dog was miserable and had developed behavioral problems. No wonder! It was not recommended that she be put on this new pill but rather, that she cut back on the food, type and amount and get her the proper exercise. The lady that owned the Corgi did this and got her back to the 25 pound range she should be and it made all the difference in the world in her dog's attitude.

I heard about that on the radio the other day and I said, "Well how about exercise! It works a heck of a lot better, is healthier, and doesn't cost anything!" And yep, feeding the right amount of food is good too. Heck with actually getting off your lazy butt and working, we can just take a pill to make us skinny! Allright!

I think any kind of diet pill be it for animal or human is an eventual death sentence. I had a high school sweetheart that just died before Christmas who had taken Phen-fen at some point and had developed serious heart problems as a result. She won a large lawsuit and was getting around $5,000/mo as a result. The damage had already been done and three days before Christmas she was rushed to the hospital as a result of sweating and chest pains but died in transit. Her heart just stopped and they couldn't get it going again. She was 60 years old. I don't' know how long she took this pill or how long she had been off it but, it was a death sentence for her.
