Thanks for posting the link Cass!

It never ceases to amaze me just how many people have absolutely no idea - I cannot believe she got another puppy

I know! I can't believe she got another puppy either! I wonder if the dogs stayed at her new home? LOL I'd like to think they did, she seemed to finally 'get' that the dogs are pretty great and fun to interact with and train.

Oh gods. I just found that the Dog Whisperer's show is back on down here in Aussieland at 4.30pm today on 9/NBN. Now that I know I think I'll be compelled to watch.

Because you're not using it correctly, would be my guess.
You should read about how to use a clicker before you try to train your dogs with it. Here are three sites I love. You can also get books on it which I recommend.
http://www.clickerlessons.com/
http://www.clickertraining.com/basics/
http://www.clickersolutions.com/

You can also do a search here at Global Paw for threads about it.

Thanks for the tip Cass - I've never actually seen him in action - going to have to make sure I'm home at 4:30 to see it!

OMG I watched the Dog Whisperer, as I knew I would (can't help myself). Only caught the tail end of it (no pun intended) and geeeeeeez. It was like he was killing that poor dog.
It was the one where the small white fluffy wouldn't let anyone groom it, so he held it by the back of the neck and then by both hands around the neck to let the owner trim its fur.
The dog was so obviously distressed I wanted to cry. Poor dog.

Yikes! That sounds bad! I remember watching the Dog Whisperer once. Ceasar Milan was 'helping' a dog to get over it's fear of entering a school hallway (at a school where the dog's owner worked as a teacher). The dog was scared of walking into the school building because of the slippery lino surface. Ceasar Milan literally dragged the dog by the leash through that hallway.. poor thing.

Oh that poor dog. Was that the Great Dane? I heard he did a similar thing to a GD who was afraid of the floor in a hallway or something? I'll try to find it on YouTube. Ack...no I shouldn't. It just frustrates me.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was a Great Dane (I was originally going to say it was a Great Dane but didn't cause I wasn't 100% sure).. I saw the episode about 3 years ago.

As long as we're on the topic of TV dog trainers, my co-workers and I have decided that Mick McAuliffe (previously the director of the RSPCA, who's now relocated to the US- about 10 minutes from my home!) should have his own tv show.

He's got the right methods, the attractive appearance- it could only be good.

I watched it and am sad to say that it reminded me of some of my relatives!

It would be interesting to see the bits of his show that were edited out. If we are upset by the footage they USE...can you imagine what is left on the cutting room floor?
