I watch the show the Dog Whisperer, and I just love it!!! He gives great advice and it's worked with my dogs. Calm and assertive energy, like he says. Does his advice work for you?? And what noise do you make to get your dogs attention? The body language of dogs are a neat thing!

Oh gods no.
Lets not do the whole 'dog whisperer' thing again. We've had enough arguments over that.**That's not me whining as a 'staff member' that's me whining as a plain ol' Global Pawer** Cass. |

LOL!!! I read the first post and was getting all ready with my "Anti-Caesar" argument....but I'll restrain myself since it seems like it's been done to death!!
I'll just say, "To each his own!!" ![]() |

Feel free to revive an old Cesar thread. LOL There are few down there buried deep.
But I think it's all been said before. Personally I like Victoria Stilwell, an english dog trainer, who also has her own show. She's wonderful. She uses positive reinforcment and clicker training. Basic methods, but they're so effective and easy for your average person to learn and use by watching the show. She's also very anti backyard breeder and puppymill (and therefore anti animals in petshops) and she's constantly trying to get across the message that dogs should be spayed/neutered if they're pets and they aren't fashion accessories. Which is something I really love about her. Her show is called "It's me or the dog!" if you ever manage to catch it. ![]() Cass. EDIT: You can find some of her shows on YouTube by searching for the title of her show. |

You should see the episode that's on YouTube. She's dealing with a british celeb (one not known in Aussieland as far as I know), who has 4 Chihuahua's that she refuses to move into her new home because of their problems...a Bulldog and a brand new Bulldog puppy. I was banging my head on the desk while watching that episode. Thoroughly entertaining of course, but frustrating nonetheless. Cass. |

I wish they would bring that show you guys mentioned (Victoria Stilwell) to the US! We really need a good clicker trainer on US tv. The only times I've seen clicker training mentioned on a dog training show here, once was a very short segment on a show that generally showed collar corrections, when they did a short interview with Karen Pryor. The other time was I think on the same show (Good Dog U) when the host of the show tried to very briefly explain clicker training and when he demostrated it he kept going "clickclickclickclick" with the clicker each time he used it!

It's split into three parts
Part 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJyKqn_7jFQ Part 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LX7-h6YwF4c Part 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2c8kE_Djhk I don't think she uses her clicker for this particular episode. I'll have to watch it again, I can't remember. LOL She has a DVD out which I *think* is episodes of her show...but don't quote me on it. I want to get it myself, but what she teaches is basic stuff (which is exactly what the majority of people need of course ).Cass. |

It's a great show.
This is the official website http://www.channel4.com/entertainmen...dog/index.htmlVictoria Stilwell's website is http://www.victoriastilwell.com/ I couldn't find any other episodes on YouTube. Which is a pity, especially if you can't get the show where you are. Cass. |
