Cool Dog Easter Egg Hunt for Autism Service Dogs

Just wanted to pass this on for anyone in the Windsor/ Michigan area. I went last year. Emma had a great time. Hope to see some people from GP. It's for a great cause. I've been working with kids with Autism for over 18 years. Hope to see you there. http://www.nsd.on.ca/egg-hunt-windsor.htm

I am soooo in this year!

This'll be some great socialization for Maya too.

I'll have to get some ink for my printer so I can get the forms printed up.

The Chicago Park District hosts an easter egg hunt for dogs here in Chicago, it's a lot of fun but a little strange, because they call it an "easter egg hunt" but there is NO hunt! The eggs are strewn around a small partially fenced-in area of open grass! I think it would be even more fun if they were actually *hidden* for the dogs to find...

The first time we went some of the plastic eggs contained dog treats while others contained hard candy for humans not a good idea I think! My terrier Pooch quickly figured out how to open the plastic eggs, but luckily if he opened one and there was candy inside, he just left it.
We went again last year (only dog treats that time) and Pooch became even better at "hunting" the eggs-- he learned to tell between empty eggs and eggs with a treat inside, and only opened the ones with a treat! We got there late so a lot of the eggs had previously been opened, treat removed, re-closed and left on the field and Pooch quickly learned to only open the ones that still contained a treat. Not bad!

That sounds like a fantastic event! I wish they'd do something like that where I live, I'd definitely join in for such a great cause.

Too bad it's so far away, I'm sure that my Charlee would love that. I took my dog Loki to an Easter egg hunt when she was a puppy and she had a great time. She could tell that it was the plastic eggs that everyone was all excited about, but once she found one she couldn't figure out what was so great about them. She walked around with one in her mouth for awhile just to make sure that everyone saw that she had one, and then she was done.
