Have you ever read any of James Herriot's books? He was a vet in England and wrote many, many books about his experiences...he is one of my favorite authors...

It was a tv series here in the 70's and 80's too called "All creatures great and small",families accross britain would sit down and eat sunday lunch watching that (Mostly farm animals giving birth

)
Great stories and I'm sure inspired many potential vets

I read the whole series years ago. It's funny how much I learned from those books that's been relevant to dealing with the cattle here. I never thought I'd have any need to know anything about cows since I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area - about as far away from cows as you can get!

It's funny you said that QW, my father gave me a few of his books today. He said I would love them. It they are as good as everyone says, I sould have them done this weekend ( I have the whole weekend off, YAY

, that doesn't happen very often)

My ten year old cozen reads them, my aunt says they are hilarious! Oh BTW, I’m not trying to make anyone feel young, my cozen also reads LOTR.

I've been trying to find a copy of one of his books. My father loaned me a copy of It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet, and told me to take care of it. It was a limited edition, leather hard cover. I started to read it, and just as it was getting good, the dogs got it

It's now shredded, and I can't find another one like it to replace it for Dad. He doesn't know yet.

I found lots of paperbacks, but none like this one was

Chapters is trying to find it for me. It looks like if i do find one, its going to be big $$

Good Luck finding the book Taz.. I've not read any of his books that I can recall..But, You all have me so interested I'm going to the libarary next week to see about checking one out..

Oh man Taz, what a bummer.. Good luck. Sometimes Ebay can come in handy for that sort of thing. I purchase very old books on there sometimes. Hope you find that book.

Try searching out book sales. My mom bought a few of his books at a church book sale, not leather though.

James Harriot was just an alias, can't remember his real name right now but I read it in a biography sort of book about him. Love the books, have read a lot of them.
