Dog's tail wail sends a message
"Your dog may be communicating feelings with the way its tail moves, researchers say."
This was a video on Yahoo this morning. Go to http://www.yahoo.com/ And click on "What's Your Dog's Tail Trying to Tell You?" to watch the video. It is very interesting. According to this, when dogs are happy, their tails wag to the right, and when they are stressed, their tails wag to the left. So, after watching this video, I tested it out on Wesley and Lilly. When I saw Wesley and called him over, his tail was obviously wagging to his right, meaning he was happpy Then, I tried Lilly. Now, Lilly's tail is more of a spitz-type tail, because she is 1/4 Border Collie. It is short haired, but has a definite curve over her back. When I talked to Lilly, she was wagging her tail, but her tail wags in more of a helicopter circular movement, but I knew she was happy becuase she ran over to me and kissing me. So, are spitz-type tails different? Or is it just Lilly? Very cool vidoe though!! ![]() |

Couldn't find that video. Oh well. Anyway my two yorkies have the tiny tails and one doesn't even wiggle it at all. When I see a dog wag it's tail, it just goes back and forth, so I couldn't predict it's mood by that.

annie, I know what your talkin about....I saw it on some morning news show and tested it on my girls. it TENDS to be true with them unless they have major wiggle butt (when they haven't seen me in a while) then it goes back and forth along with the whole back half of their wiggly body! eheheheh, i love wiggle butts! the left/right thing is a little hard to pick out because it does go back and forth a little, but more to one side...hopefully its always the happy side

Thanks! Wesley is "normal", I guess. But, Lilly is a definite "wiggle butt"!! She is THE MOST exciteable dog EVER!! She gets the biggest thril out of someone even looking in her direction, But she's only 10 months old
