Yeah, not much of a life for it. I hate that these extremes get so much attention. It just makes selfish, ignorant people want one for themselves and encourages crappy breeders to strive for that even tinier pooch.

Nice to see the dogs mother was a rescue though and not bred by the people who now have them both.

Oh my gosh, he's tiny!

This statement annoys me:

I was thinking the same thing! Loving people IS typical of a Chihuahua. It's only crappy owners who make them mean and anti-social. Talk about a bad advertisement for Chi's.

That is exactly my concern. Those tiny teacup toys end up with the worse health problems imaginable. I'm sort of glad that the world record holder was on Oprah the other day. That poor little thing shivered and could hardly stand up. It may have been just scared but I hope people think that he was ladened with health problems.

Hes cute!

But I also hate how hes getting so much "bad" attention. Hes an extremely inbred dog, and people who see him will try to do the same thing to make a smaller dog.

Lucy is about 1.5-2 pound, not as short though!

In my area, Chis are so overbred by BYBs that it would be "typical" for a Chi to have a poor temperament. I don't think it makes Chihuahuas look bad except to people who generalize breed traits anyway, which is never entirely fair to any breed. Of the three Chis I know that I can think of off the top of my head, only one is a people dog (she's the only one that was rescued, from a shelter, too ). So the author's statement probably just reflects the Chis in that area and/or the author's personal experience. To be honest, when I read the article I thought it said Tiny Dancer WAS typical of the breed. lol

Didn't they mess up in the article saying Tiny Dancer was named for a Garth Brooks song, too? Elton John originally sang the song, and Tim McGraw covered it in more recent years (Tim McGraw's song is where I get my username from, with a personalized twist ).

Is California the highest Homeless chihuahua and byb state in the U.S? I alway thought it was! At our rescues and shelters, they are absolutely overstocked with Chis (mainly all are chi mixes, and very inbred chis). Everyone thinks they can breed them...
