pmason, I was thinking of getting in contact with UPEI, they have a large vet school. Maybe someone there may know more about them, being in the same city they may have treated some of these pets.

We are going to PEI next month, so I'm planning on checking it out myself too.

I was planning on camping in PEI sometime this summer, but since I'm moving at the end of the month it won't be for a while. I live in New Brunswick, so it wouldn't be too bad of a drive. This is just something that I have to do. My friend's puppy is eight months old now, and this has been bothering me for the past five, when she told me about getting her.

I have heard really good things about the vet college in PEI. I hadn't thought about asking them about Snookums, but it's an excellent idea! Keep me posted on what they have to say about this breeder.

hello everyone, lve not replied to anything in a while but this sure caught my eye.

I too went to the site, and checked the photos, Breeders they say, MY A***

They have cross breeds, mixed or whatever. Titles on certain breeds look NOTHING like what the breed should appear like, dogs looking sad, heads hung low, sure as hell makes my alarm bells ring.

Sadly lm in Australia and cant get around to VISIT this man, otherwise l sure would and l wouldnt be pleasant about it either.

His site should be enough for the authorities to act on, MULTIPLE breeds, CHING CHING CHING PUPPY MILL, how more clear can the signs be.

Think l need to format an email right now, speak to you all soon.

I worked at Snookums, thankfully I am no longer there. It is a horrible place and the boss doesn't care where the puppies are from, as long as they are cute and he can sell them for a lot of money. He buys a lot from Quebec, but tells staff to only say they are from the maritimes, because Quebec is known for puppy mills. He lies to families with sick puppies and tells them the puppies littermates are fine, when in actuality, they are probably dying as he speaks. He won't take them to the vet, unless he paid a lot for them. If they were free, from a home, they will likely just die there. I stayed as long as I did, because I thought I could make things better there, but left because I realized I never could. Not as long as "Bud" the boss is there. For some reason, as many times as the company has drawn bad attention, it always avoids trouble and continues on. He has actually changed the company's name 2 times to avoid paying money owed to people. Please don't buy from Snookums, no matter what he tells you. He is a liar.

At least this will help others learn why, no matter what, they should NOT purchase from pet shops.

reminds of of wizard of claws!! It's true that ignorance kills puppies! If you don't bother to research these things you're going to end up with a sick puppy and to endorse the person who breeds them to keep on doing it! I'm more ticked at that woman! I'm sorry...buying a puppy out of the back of a van!! What the heck did she think she was getting?! I found Aurora's breeder by searching online. I also read about aussies extensively so that I knew what to look for. Ignorance BREEDS! in more sense than one!
Of course I also believe she should take that ******* for all he's worth! And OBVIOUSLY if he's selling 1,000s of puppies and not giving them medical care...he has a lot of money! Sue his *** off honey!

I just moved to Nova Scotia recently and my husband and I are in search of another puppy. We already have a purebred Chocolate Lab and we are looking for a Pug. After a bit of searching, I came across Snookums and checked out their web site...

I am glad that you guys have things posted like this. Its so hard to resist the sweet puppy faces! I used to live in Eastern Ontario and I worked at a pet shop a few years ago. Being so close to Quebec, most of our puppies came from Quebec puppy mills. My boss had sent me one afternoon to pick up the new "stock". I was not aware that this would be a puppy mill I was being sent to. This was in a lady's garage. The walls of her garage were lined with rabbit cages, stacked to the ceiling with puppies in every single one. She also preformed all of her own vaccinations and treated the dogs herself for any illnesses. Needless to say, I have never seen anything more disturbing in my life. A co-worker who was with me began crying, and we both left immediatly without any puppies. And yes...I quit the job!

I am glad that more people are being made aware of these types of things. I can still close my eyes and see the poor little Yorkie in a rabbit cage shaking and whimpering. It literally makes me sick. The lady who purchased the chihuahua may not have known what she was in for. She was just trying to do a good thing for her kids. I am not saying that I agree with the choice she made in purchasing the puppy in the first place, but that is what happens when people are not informed.

On the brighter side of things....being that we are all dog lovers here, would anyone happen to have any names of any reputable breeders of Pugs in Nova Scotia? I have looked all over and cannot find anything!! Pose 'em here if you do!! thanks!!

There are tons of information on the net for those concerned about the mis-treatment of animals and what you can do to help. If everyone would do their part, this would no longer be a problem. Put them out of business! http://www.stoppuppymills.org

I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. I know someone as well who has been a victim of this horrible man. People like this don't deserve to interact with these wonderful animals, and I hope that one day, this kind of situation can be stopped for good!!

Much love!

Thanks so much

I'm so glad I did my internet google on this Snookums place. I myself was looking for a new puppy and I put up an add on kijiji for charlottetown asking if anyone had any information on this place, not being from the area. It was on for about two days and then for some reason it was removed. Strange!! So, I decided to "google" this place and WOW I'm so glad I did. And I really can't say I'm surprised, when you have that many breeeds and are charging that much for mixed breeds. There is something really wrong. I will spread the word to people here in New Glasgow, NS.
People should be on a mission to SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN.

One of the best ways to shut down these businesses is to file a complaint at the Better Business Bureau in your area. Business owners DO care what their record looks like.

No kidding!

A very sad story. At least that puppy got out and got vet care, it's an even worse story to hear about the bitches that mother all those pups and live in horrifying conditions until they can't produce pups or
die.
I see people everyday (at our park) who have bought pups at the local pet store and will vheerfully tell you their dogs come from "breeders" and think it's just fine. As long as there is a market of people buying these pups there will be dogs suffering and dying terrible deaths. I will not set foot in a petstore that sells animals or birds. I won't give them one cent of my money.
