Yes, yes they are. I bet they don't even know what "pit bulls" are or think they are the only owned by rappers and people in gangs...

With the way the media has been portraying "pit bulls" and the almost 100% negative image they are getting these numbers do not surprise me at all. So many people I know see Jackson's temperment as the exception to pit bulls not the standard. If dateline or 20/20 or one of those other useless one sided news shows had one story about a pit bull that works as a therapy dog, or that saved it's family's life I bet we would see a huge surge in the "no" category.
What really gets me is a neighbor who has some sort of APBT mix. I do not know any of the history of this dog, but from what I have seen it is dog aggressive, and a little human aggressive. Now why you would keep this dog in a subdivision filled with kids is beyond me. They don't even have a fence, and I really hope they don't consider a cable tie enough to restrain the dog... When people like this put poentially dangerous dogs in situations where they can do damage is why they are even considering a ban. I plan to rescue a few APBT mixs in my time, but never would I allow a dog that shows such aggression even the most remote chance to do damage. |

your right mulroony, lets not forget the "average" americans only information or exposure to a pit bull is what they see/hear on TV.
Theyve consistently portrayed the pit bull as an animal that is incapable of anything but aggression. and by threads here, most people dont even know what a pit bull is, because every small dog on this board seems to have been mistaken for one at least once!!! |

After 20146 votes it is down to
74% yes 26% no We're making a difference guys!! Can we vote more than once... People are so gullible that if we can change the results... people will start thinking, oh, yes, we don't need to ban them.... and maybe the news agency would actually do a story covering the facts, instead of presenting a media bias.. oh yeah, I forgot, I'm awake, not dreaming... |

I received notice of your pit bull ban poll.
I would like to just communicate that i think a poll such as this, and most likely the types of news stories you report on pit bulls are irresponsible. The breed of animal is NOT the problem. It is the people who OWN them irresponsibly and the medias insistence on portraying this animal ONLY in an aggresive and violent manner. Constant stories about only negative aspects of the breed only further its reputation as a "mean" dog, a "fighting" dog, thereby INCREASING its popularity for the unseemly owners who use this type of dog for fighting, etc. Pit bulls, are smart, highly active, extremely trainable animals. They are not evil, aggresive beings whose sole purpose is to hurt other animals or people. I would encourage you to consider running stories of a POSITIVE nature on pit bulls, or support legislative means, OTHER THAN AN OUTRIGHT BAN, to further educated the public about this breed. Many things have been banned in this country, now and in the past---how well did that STOP the negative issue? Prohibition was real successful, huh? Banning this breed will only punish the responsible, educated pit bull owners and give more credence to the underground faction by increasing this breeds "evil reputation". Punish the DEED, not the BREED. Email sent to station management. |

Let me just add it is not enough to just vote no on the ban. We need to vote the people passing these bans out of office. And we need to call people to the carpet who are trying to get these bans passed. It is time to take a stand.

LOL! It was meant as nothing but a compliment. I wondered at my choice of words and then said "the heck with it, she'll know what I mean." I apologize if what I said sounded stupid. You have my admiration for being able to coalesce your thoughs so succintly and coherently! Perhaps that's what I should have said....
