hi
all within reason, dogs that would freeze their *** off or might get sunburn,it is ok
or when you have a dog with kidneyproblems and it need to kept warm, fine.
but a normal healthy dog does not need cloth, that is what their coat is for.

I don't like it, I do feel that people who do it just want a doll to dress up and don't understand that they are just dogs. I really doubt that a dog is comfortable in a dress.

My kids are of the northern breed variety, they come with their own winter snuggies. I put a hat on Loki once and he was P.O.ed.
He don't even like his backpack but will wear it sullenly.

Personally, I don't think people who dress up their dogs should instantly be yelled at that "DOGS AREN'T DOLLS". I agree, some people DO take it too far...

But. I feel some people can be perfectly responsible and still dress their dogs up. If the dog isn't fighting it and isn't being hurt or isn't mentally affected (scared, nervous, etc.)... who cares? Who is anyone to tell someone else, who's dog is not unhappy, they shouldn't dress their dog up?

I take this by a case by case basis. If I had a dog that would let me, I would definately dress it up... But I know for a fact I am not an irresponsible dog owner.

I see nothing wrong with it too a point. I have seen dogs with clothes on when its really hot and you no the dog is hot....

When Tiva was little I bought her a cap to keep the sun out of her eye's. I also went and bought her a winter body jacket thing to keep her warm while she played outside, boston's don't have much fur. With this on she played alot longer and loved it cause she was warm.

I think people who do dress their dogs in little "fu-fu" things only do it on certain occasions anyway. I've never see it at dog parks or out walking. I would much rather see an overly dressed dog than a battered one anyway.
I never thought much about the dog shoes till I went to the pet expo in LA a couple years ago when it was so darn hot you could fry eggs on that asphalt, and people were having to buy shoes for their dogs so their feet wouldn't blister. I took pictures of all the big guys wearing shoes and loving it. I brought a wagon for my dog and two of my friends put their dogs in it too.

Too a point it is ok, but some people just shock me. I have to admit I almost got Shelby a doggy bowling shirt, but only cause I thought it would be funny.

My dogs wear winter coat and sweaters when the weather is cold and Boomer will wear boots to walk in the snow. I don't dress them out in outfits. I humiliate them enough with the silly clips I so enjoy giving them.

okay, i think it is kinda cute. I would never dress up toby, although I did want to buy this cute sweater, but was stopped by the boyfriend. Like others have said though, I would rather see someone who loves there dogs and has them wear silly little outfits (its not like it embarasses the dog) then a dog who is left in the background alone all the time. Its attention, and I think dogs would perfer that to being ignored.

I really think a nice jacket or sweater on a dog of any size is cute. I think halloween costumes are cute too. My dogs each have a coat for playing in the snow. I just can't stand the baby doll dresses and leather shoes. I see a lady in Petsmart all the time who has 3 tiny yorkies dressed in different lacey-frilly dresses that you would expect a doll or a baby to wear. It looks like a real dress with layers and ruffles and then there is the black leather shoes and socks that look real too, only on the front feet. She puts her dogs in an infant stroller and wheels them around. They bark and yip at everyone. I just don't understand it, it doesn't look right. I saw a chihuahua wearing pajamas and a bathrobe once...I would rather see that then the dresses.

i see no problem with jackets or sweaters or t-shirts but i have to say the dresses and pajamas are a bit much.

my dogs wear coats in the winter even though they're tough macho pit bulls. they're short-coated dogs and luce shivers and chatters her teeth when the temperature drops below 40. they both have horse-blanket type coats. nothing too fancy.

the little poodle i used to have wore clothes constantly because she was old as dirt, was sickly, and had trouble keeping herself warm. she had a variety of sweaters, tshirts, and a warm fleece coat. she also had diapers.
