My two cockerspaniels love wearing clothes. If I take them off them they chase me to get it back and put it on them. Only in the winter . I think they associate their sweater and shirts for going out. They dont wear clothes everyday but in the winters they do wear them often. Anything they dont like stays off them I never force them to wear anything. The do have a beautiful array of clothes they have their own closet filled will clothes.

I spoil my baby by not buying her any more clothes. :P We bought her a pair of reindeer antlers about two weeks ago and when we put it on her, she didn't seem to care; it looked like she loved it.
But as soon as I went to the kitchen to get myself a drink, she promptly tore it off and attempted to eat it. Now we use it as a tug-o-war / fetch toy...Hope she doesn't try to chase after and eat Rudolph next month! Although, if those reindeer mess up my roof again..... :P |

my puppy will tolerate the clothes, but she is definetly not "extatic" about them(or anything that has to do with her even being clean, like brushing, which is an everyday chore, and bath time). the first time she wore a sweater, whe tried to get it off of her, but after a couple of seconds, she just ignored it. SO, i only make her wear it when it is really cold outside.....BUT SHE IS SOOOO DARN CUTE IN CLOTHES!!!(she would rather be cold and dirty

I don't think you should stuff a dog into a dress or something like that, but a sweater or something if they need it is okay. My sister once tried to convince me to buy a t-shirt that said "LIFEGUARD" on it for Colby lol.

Haha, that picture of the dog in the bed is hilarious. Love it! I don't think it's a question of should or shouldn't (regarding those luxuries), but that photo is just hysterical
As for clothes, yes.. if it's cold, I suggest clothes..absolutely |

My little Daisy wears sweater and coats. I have been thinking of getting her little booties. She does NOT like cold weather. This morning she refused to go outside to go potty.
I just order her a pink thermal hoodie. So no I am not opposed to dogs wearing sweater and coats, if they need them. Dogs, however, do not need to wear dresses, suits and ties, bikinis or pajamas. They are dogs for goodness sakes. Yes, people do treat them like dolls and forget the dog's personal dignity. And Daisy only tolerates the sweaters and coats. I had bought her a sweater with arms but the arms hampered her abililty to run and tackle her dog friends at the dog park so we switched to a blanket like coat. Bridgett |

I made the red velvet dresses with white lace trim for Zada & Azraels to have their pictures taken with Santa, which is posted. I'm in the processes of making them pink suede coats with a fleece lining and if we do go up on the mountain to play in the snow, I'll get them the little pink suede boots with fleece lining I saw in PetSmart. They LOVE getting their sweaters on and love their PJ's on cold nights. Not a darn thing wrong with this. I don't paint their nails, or color their hair or anything else that doesn't have anything to do with comfort or a picture. They don't run around all day in clothes and I don't put costumes on them. I think whatever anyone wants to dress their dogs in is perfectly fine as long as the dogs are happy and well adjusted and are not in any way uncomfortable or harmed or suffering indignities.

I don't think the dog has to be sick in order to enjoy going somewhere in a doggie stroller or wagon. I have both for my girls. I got the wagon firs so Delsi could go on outings too, since she is blind, & doesn't walk around very well. I just put all three in it and off we go down to the sandwich/coffee shop here in our little community & meeting up with other "pupsters" and their caretakers. We aren't town but we do have nice places with outside eating. Anyway, I do walk Zada and Azrael before coming back to get Delsi & the wagon. I also have the doggie stroller that I use when we go somewhere on really hot days & the sidewalks are just way too hot for them & like I said, Delsi doesn't get around very well. With the doggie stroller I can get by with taking them into all the stores. I don't like leaving them at home AT ALL, so the stroller is perfect for different reasons. It has a convertable top that I can keep down for them. When we go into "certain" resturants or stores, I just put the top up. They can see everything thru the mesh and they are not under anyones feet, or told to leave.
It works for me! So folks........do what works regardless of what a few would think. Have fun! |
