The funny thing is I have a wonderful bed setup for Gunnar and he would rather sleep on the hardwood floor in front of the door, lol. I guess he doesn't think very highly of the pampered life, lol!

My dogs are spoiled rotten and I spend way too much and stupid things for them but my mouth drops open when I see dogs in frilly-lacey dresses that look like they are made for dolls. I have even seen paten leather mary-janes on a dog before. I do think dogs look cute in a sweater or jacket but sometimes it's taken too far.

I don't think it's a problem by itself -- but I think a lot of the time, people who buy their pets these clothes and beds end up treating their dog like a baby -- not a dog -- and then the dog is demanding and obnoxious.

So to me it's usually a symptom of a lack of real awareness of what a dog wants and needs, but it's not automatically bad.

I think it is really cute, I don't happen to "dress" my dogs, but don't have a problem with people who do.
The bigger problem would be if they decided not to train them.

Jesse would disown me if I dressed him up like a fool.
I don't mind people putting a jacket or something on a dog if it genuinely needs to be kept warm (or dry), but I HATE seeing dogs dressed like humans.

I agree with Barrett and Kade, people take it way too far and it does give the impression (and a lot of the time it's correct) that the person sees the dog as a doll or accessorie etc. rather than a dog.

The only exception for me is if it's for an occasion, like a fancy dress party or something like St. Patricks day or Halloween. Once in a blue moon is fine but WOW people really DO take it too far.

Cass.

P.S. As far as the bed goes, I love it and see nothing wrong with fancy beds and bowls etc...it's just the clothes that tick me off.
