well, that's no good.
I just don't understand why people are so irresponsible. I really don't. Why on earth would you want to have a dog with the power of a pit bull, or GSD or any dog for that matter and not at least keep tabs on it. Don't people understand that the elderly woman who went tot he hosp with 5 bites to her leg could have been them or there daughter, mother, grandmother so on....
It just breaks my heart for the people affected and the dogs involved. Dogs are not usually born that way.....just so sad.

Over-The -Rhine is generally considered the roughest area of Cincinnati. It's known for gang shootings, drugs and prostitutes. If you heard about the Cincy riots a few years ago, that is where they were. These are the kind of places these pit bull attacks seem to happen. That goes to show you its the people, not the breed

I feel bad for the dog!!! He must have gotten frightened or felt threatened or something to set him off like that! Poor baby...

Yes I do feel sorry for the old woman and anyone else that was injured...but the dog will most likely be put down and that is just sad...

It said they were testing it for Rabies and then putting it down in a few days??? Don't they usually put it down right now, today so they are able to run tests for rabies?? When did they change that?

I was questioning that same exact statement. Normaly an autopsy needs to be done on the brain to find out if it test positive for rabies. That is the only way it can be diagnosed, or at lease it used to be?

Yes that is the only test for rabies they do, testing the brain tissue.

However I think they just got their wording a little mixed up, in reported bite cases like these, the animal is kept in quarrentine (sp?- sorry) for a set period of time, 10 days if memory serves me, which will show it clear or not of symptoms, and then euthanized or returned to the owner. Euthanized in this boy's case

They followed up on this story on the news last night. Apparently, someone was ordering the dog to attack

That infuriates me! If someone was indeed ordering the dog to attack, the poor dog will be pts just because it was doing what it was told to do.

grrrrrrrrr!

This is a sad story, but I would guess the dog doesn't have a very good life, and is probably neglected, abused, and lonely. If that is the case, I'd rather see it PTS then live a miserable life because of some idiot owning it.

Good point...but it still breaks my heart!

I wish there was a way they could re-home this poor animal rather than just putting it down...I would much rather see the dog in a happy loving home than PTS.

And I bet the owner will go to jail, live on taxpayer $$$, and get out and get another dog and the whole vicious cycle will start all over again! I with owners like these could be PTS!!!

This is what I mean about this breed attracting the "wrong kind of people" who are only animals themselves except worse than there dogs!

as i was driving this morning, i saw a pit bull running through town. the first thought in my mind was that i hope no one harasses the dog or anything so that it ossibly bites someone and then there's another pit bull story in the paper. i wanted to stop my car and see if it would respond cautiously to my voice, but, i really know nothing about the dog and i dont want to cause it any problems. i was sad! it was a pretty dog.
