K9 Officer & K9 Injured In Crash
Police Officer And K-9 Injured In Crash
Nov 24, 2005 - (Fort Wayne, IN 11/24/05)--Slick roads led to a crash that injured a Fort Wayne police officer and his dog.
Officials say the officer was responding to another wreck when his cruiser lost control on an ice patch and rolled over at Lima and Rabus roads.

The officer and his K-9 dog were trapped in the vehicle until they were freed by rescue units.

The two were then treated for their injuries.


Just a note to add: Officer Andrews has been released and is recouping at home with a broken wrist, his K9 partner is still under observation at our local clinic but should be released sometime this weekend.

They were very lucky, the officer was pinned but not badly injured. The dog wasn't about to let the emergency workers anywhere near the inside of the car. Thankfully another K9 unit wasn't too far off and 25 minutes later they were both out.

It was pretty amazing that neither was hurt any worse than what they were! Can you imagine how scared, hurt and confused that dog had to of been? The K9s aren't really "fastened" in and after being thrown around like that, for him to still do the job that he was trained to do is MORE than impressive.

wow that sounds like my friend, right before thanksgiving she got into a car accident... and lost her little chi named dolce... (the whole story is in paws to remember...) i'd be thankful if anyone checked it out and gave me some helpful suggestions....
