Yes, they were almost 5 weeks in that picture. Their first few days of weaning they made quite a mess, there were 9 of them. This was a litter of 11. One was a stillborn, which was very sad, and another died at one week of age. The mother trying to get out of the pen through a maze of pups accidently stepped on her. It can be very upsetting. You develop a bond with each individual pup as many of you know. For anyone who hasn't bred dogs that may be thinking about it, it can be a wonderful experience. But you have to know all the info first, and be ready for a LOT of work, sleepless nights, heartache and money to pour out. Don't go in with the attitude of "it will make me some money". If done right, you are lucky to break even.
