We've been out swimming!

Well, the last few days, I've been taking my crew out for a good swim. We found a great pond with no people, and a nice sandy bank... it's private and about 3 acres of water. It's awesome!

Either way, I didn't get any pics before, and today was a challenge keeping the camera dry and sand-free, but I snapped a few.

Enjoy!

We all went swimming in a nice pond not too far from the house. Usually we have the pond all to ourselves, and the dogs love it. You can't see it, but Alley is looking over her shoulder, paddling as fast as she can to get away from Topper and Spirit. Meanwhile, Laney, is off to go get the other dummy that I threw.

Here's Spirit helping Alley back with the dummy. Alley is not such an easy going gal and she tries to fight it away from everyone the whole time. She also does a lot of her swimming under the water because of this, either getting away or being dunked. Topper, in the background, retrieves the dummies back for a while, but then gets sidetracked with the dragonflies and other water bugs. This day he swam for about ten minutes straight, out into the middle of the pond. I thought I was going to have to perform a life guard technique on him, but he never seemed to get tired. When I called him he looked at the flies a few more times, and then turned his way back home and swam back.

Here's Spirit and Topper retrieving dually. Spirit is just learning to love the water, and will only go out once she sees someone with a dummy. Soon she'll be out there on her own. They all started the same way, it seems, big cowards!!

This is what shore usually looks like. I circled Spirit in red, so you wouldn't miss her! They really want to be the dog that brings back the dummy. Such competitors!

Those are so great and thanks for the story line behind those awsome shots. How lucky you are to have a place that nice for the pupsters to swim and play.

Oh I love the pictures and it looks like Topper is doing much better with his swimming, hooray!!!!!

We took jasmine and violet swimming today as well, and guess what, violet swam like crazy!!!!!! she was a bit scared at the begining but then saw a dragonfly and took right off, after that, I couldn't keep her on shore, she was a swimming fool. She is so cute swimming along, must be the boxer in her. Jasmine has always been a wonderful swimmer, DH was throwing a ball for her and she too will swim forever if we don't call her back in.

Glad you and the kids had fun at the pond today, it looks like a great place to go!!!

Thanks Wehkah... The sig was fun to make... I've got so many pics, I haven't even waded through most of them. No, no DH. He was sleeping, worked last night, holiday weekend and all, he needs his sleep!

Calgal... It really is a nice place. The dogs love it and it's not slimy or anything, so I can get in to if I want to, which usually ends up happening. It's kind of a choice between staying on the shore and getting wet with all my clothes on or just throwing on some shorts and getting right in there.

MrsGrubby... Topper can be a good swimmer, he just hates that initial getting in. He's like a fussy old lady. Alley and Laney dive right in never even hesitating. Laney was even swimming out into the water waiting for me to throw it... they are all so silly. Alley, the Boxer, has always loved swimming, and she always sounds like she's dying. She gets so much water in her face added to the fact that she's got a smushed face, but she loves every second of it. She's a very powerful dog, and can swim very well, but she's not a very fast swimmer. Laney is by far the fastest, she's got some power in that rear!
Violet and Jasmine are so lucky to have you two take them out swimming, it's such great exercise.

Sam... Thanks. I think we'll go again tomorrow, as long as the weather holds, it's just too hot to do much other exercise.

Novel - Looks like tons of fun, maybe if i get up to Devil's Lake our pups can go swimming

We had Shelby in and out of the water for about 5 hours yesterday and she was swimming at least half that time. She is becoming a little torpeado in the water

Mulroony - Absolutely, they love to go swimming there, plus, the hiking. They're in doggy heaven!

Sammy - Thank you so much on both. The siggy was fun. Nationals were so much fun, and Topper got to do so many different things!

We went swimming again today but I think I'm going to have to get in with them at some point. We lost 2 tennis balls today! I think that maybe I'll take them down to the beach side once the life guards leave so that I can get in the water with them one of these days.... maybe tomorrow. Angel actually went out really far this time but thrashed around too much to see the ball... he he he that was the first ball... Did the same thing with the second ball about 5 min later. Then I think they both gave up so they came to shore and we ended up doing a bit of obediance.

However I do have a little problem with Tweeder.... everytime we go out and start to play he starts to eat the grass... or basically anything stalky and green... Does anyone else have this problem?? or do I just have a cow on my hands?

My dogs graze constantly. It's a good fiber source and will clean out the intestinal tract. I wouldn't worry about it!
