Rig Run
This weekend I took my boyfriend out to meet my close friends and mushing mentors Cheri and John of Midstar Kennels and of course to meet the dogs that I work with, run, and race with. Now no trip is complete without running some dogs!!! I don;t trust myself steering the rig on Cheri''s trails (some tight corners that are hard to take with such a monsterous thing for me) so me and Cheri went out together with a team of 6 females BUT no pics cause Mike was so intrigued he forgot about snapping some LOL I ran Wally and Lacey in lead, Ebony and Faraday (AKA Pipsqueek cause she only weighs about 35Lbs) -who are yearlings in training- in point, and Ruby and Layla in wheel. The boys didn''t go because it looked like it was going to rain when we left.

Dante, who is Cheri''s friend drove the two other teams because he is very accustomed to Cheri''s rig and her trails.

First he ran Nash and Fargo in lead, Lance a yearling in trianing in point, and Lotus and Merry in wheel.





The second team he ran was Chevy and Hurricane (yearling in training) in lead, Radar and Striker (both yearlings in training) in point, and Dakota and Jesse in wheel

That is so interesting to me. I really never knew about training and am glad to get an insight to it. All I've ever seen are the dogs pulling a sled in the snow, so this is certainly something I've never seen. Thank you.

Hehehe it is a lot of fun for sure! And by the way, the international command is "Hike" as "Mush" is a pretty soft word for gearing up dogs and getting them excited. Although just like any command for any action you can literally use any word you want from "Let's go!" to "Stinky Pants!" LOL

The girls respond to "Let's go!" to start out, and I use "Hike" to speed them up during a run.
