Found a Rotty today

Me and my friend found a female rottweiler today when we were on our way from my house to her house. She was right down the street from me. A few neighbors say shes been wandering around for days now. We walked her, and no one claimed her as theirs. She was very hungry. She is the sweetest thing! She jumped right into the car when we opened the door, she can sit on command, and she is a good walker. (A little strong..lol). She is definately someones baby! I am trying hard to find her owner.

She's gorgeous. I hope you find her owner, I know how awful it is when you're pets go missing. It just rips your heart out.
Call all the shelters, pounds and rescues around your area as well as any and all vets in the area and let them know. You should also take her in to be scanned for a microchip just in case she has one.

Yeah, we were going to take her over tomorrow to see if she has a chip, and see if people have been looking for her. I already checked the paper for lost ads, nothing. She is such a sweetie! And she is good with kids, and loves to give kisses and go on car rides. Not to mention she is obedient other than being a little headstrong when it comes to walking! I can handle heavy, strong dogs, but she nearly took my friend down the street..lol

She looks like a real sweetheart - I hope you manage to find her owner soon and I'm sure they'll be grateful to you for making sure she is safe in the meantime.

Just to let you know, rottweilers are not wanderers, they stay close to home. SOOOOOOOO, either she was dumped, or she is very close to her home....

If something happened to the owners, it is a good thing that the dog was able to get out and be found.

We asked almost everyone in my neighborhood! No owners at all. I am, sure some rotties are wanderers! She gave us a scare last night. She dug her way out of my friend's yard. I was very surprised. My friend luckily put an extra tag she keeps on her with her phone number, and we got her back (Now shes in her garage).

She is very dog and cat aggressive. but WONDERFUL with people! She loves people, and is the sweetest thing ever!! But she does not like dogs, and wants to kill every cat she sees. We are looking for a rescue to take her, and find her a good home. The rescue we volunteer at are completely full..they say it happens alot during the holidays. If we can't find one, she has to go to the SPCA. They are a kill shelter..but she is a very beautiful and friendly dog..so i am sure she will get adopted.

You know, her trying to escape could have been her trying to go home.

How did it go with the microchip scan? Have you contacted all the vets in the area and the rescues to let them know she seems to be lost?

I personally wouldn't just place her in a shelter to be rehomed until I was 100% certain no one had lost her.

Contact a Rottweiler rescue (or contact several of them) and let them know about her and how you found her. Not only could they help you find the owner but they could also, if she has no owner, help find her a good home with someone experienced.
