...on a dog sledding adventure!!!!! Yup I finally for the first time this season got to run my normal training trail. I turned down an invite to go to the movies, I told my director I couldnt do anything for the play tonight, I called my dad, loaded the dogs and off we went!!!! I even convinced my mum to come along and document it! So I thought I would envite you guys to come along with us on our dogsledding outing LOL Enjoy!!!

I guess this will be a bit backwards since i am showing the pictures first and the pictures were taken at the end of the run....oh well!

For anyone who thinks dogsledding is a cruel sport, watch the boys'' reactions as I get the sled ready with my dad. Do you think they would really get this excited over it if it did nothing but cause them pain????

Getting the dogs hitched (by the way leading the dogs the way I am with Ronan is common for mushers - not letting their front feet touch the ground means they have less power to break free from you and start running down the trail without you LOL They arent getting choked at all)

5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1......HIKE!!!!!!! (dont mind me yelling at OC, he needs the corrections to quit jumping on Ronan - he does it for the first few seconds before settling into the run)

Silly OC, jumping on Ronan LOL I wish we had the snow to do that with the girls and Ike. They'd love it.

Have you given any thought on getting Lugar involved in pulling events? Maybe weight pulling for him?

I actually have. I'd like to do weight pulling with him. I think he'd love it. He's very confident and isn't really afraid of much. He's also developing muscle very quickly! Only being here for two weeks, he's got some strong legs.

That looks like so much fun! It must have been a lot of work, too, though, at least thats what ive read. I wish we had a place like that here. Thats the bad thing about ESS and living here, there are a lot of birds that burst up from under your feet here, so it would be almost impossible to sled out in the country. Of course ESS are usually sled dogs, but A.j. sure loves it! I sled up and down our street, though. Your dogs are so gorgeous!

Mirg, today wasnt bad, the trail was in perfect condition so I only had to peddle through a few drifts and this trail doesnt have too many drifts so not much running (I run all inclines) but I guess I probably do more work than I realize too because I always end sweaty LOL Ewwww

On this run as we passed one of the farms we actually had an ACD start chasing us across the field but luckily he didnt come all the way out to the trail. He has only done that once and was so close when chasing us he was actually running between the runners of the sled and I thought he was going to chomp my butt! LOL Eventually with my yellings ans swattings he lost interest and trotted back home. Guess he was just unsure of the whole dogsledding set up and had to check us out. Once he knew we would just keep going by and not come on to his property, he was cool with us.

Great pictures OC, and I loved the videos. I sometimes look at sleds online and dream. I think my gray crew would make great mushers... don't you??

I love it how they matched the speed of that car that was driving past when you first started off - very impressive!! Don't think they could be any more revved up to go if they tried!

I wish we had a place like that here.
