Dog Walking at the Rescue Shelter

Today I had a blast! Called up the local rescue shelter to see if I could come down and play with the dogs... She said that today wasn't good, but I inquired about possibly taking one for a walk around the lake. She said sure and told me to meet her out front. When my friend and I got there, she asked if we'd like to take a second one as well. Of course! The more, the merrier.

She knew I liked Woody, one of the pitbulls there, so she brought him out on a leash and handed him over. My friend likes Sugar, the boxer/pit, so out she came... Her head is so massive it's like petting a basketball...

.. My friend described walking her in a few words... "It's like walking a freight train!" It was Woody's first time off the property - so he got to see the world for the first time - he's been there since he was born and for whatever reason, no one seems to want him... I do! For his first time on a leash, he's a dream - no pulling whatsoever and always stayed at my side.. Sugar, however, worked like this: if she stops, you stop. if she goes, you go... if you stop, you dislocate your shoulder..

.. Anyway, enough of my rambling - on with a few pictures!

Oh, and got some video, too.. Gotta chop it up and edit it though as it's like a 15 minute video... That, and my hideousness is in the video, and I didn't actually look my best.. Though there are some good scenes of Sugar drenching my arm with her tongue of doom... Getting licked by her is like getting licked by the soft side of a wet sponge...

I don't understand why no one wants to adopt Woody - he's an AWESOME dog ... almost perfect on a leash and loves everyone... Perhaps I should remedy that situation....

Tell Thor if he adopts Sugar he has to let me play with her when I eventually come visit.

She's so gorgeous

I wish I could adopt her myself (but you already know that

).

Can't wait to see the video. Don't cut too much of yourself out of it. You know we love seeing you. LOL

Sugar and Woody are both so gorgeous!

If I was in your area I'd probably snap Woody up, if you didn't take him first of course!

What a spunk he is. Looks like they both enjoyed their time away from the shelter.

It still shocks me that it was Woody's first time away from the shelter and out in public.. He did VERY well, especially on the leash. Everyone loved him and he loved everyone... The only problem we had was with the drunken homeless guy sitting on the side of the road receiving a citation from a city cop for being intoxicated in public - not sure who Woody grumbled at, but a quick, "Hey, no!" calmed him down and we were on our way.

They are both gorgeous but I too have a soft spot for Woody - there's something about those gorgeous eyes of his!!

I'm a sucker for Woody as well...her reminds me of my Rosie.

(Maybe its the ears. I LOVE half prick/half flop ears on dogs.
