Hemp Dog Collars

I've always liked making bracelets and necklaces out of hemp, and last night my boyfriend showed me a picture of a dog with a hemp collar. I don't know how I'd never thought of this before

So nonetheless, I made a trip to a craft store today and bought some thicker hemp cord and some beads to start making collars for Lucky. So far I've made two and Lucky seems very pleased with them

Here's some pics (let me know what you think!):

I made a small loop on one end, and then connected a small clasp to the other end.

They are cute, but not one that you could attach the leash too I doubt unless it was a lot wider. These also don't work on dogs with longer hair because it causes pulling and matting.

True, I made them specifically for decor/style.

Actually, these hemp collars cause no pulling of the dogs hair at all. Hemp is actually very soft, and with the way I make them, it's quite impossible for the dog's hair to be pulled.
And as far as matting of the dog's hair goes, they will cause just the same amount of "matting" as almost any other dog collar would. Probably less since they are so lightweight.

I think you should start selling these collars. I'm sure there would be a lot of people interested in purchasing one (or more!).

That has crossed my mind

After I make some more I might see if anyone would be interested in them at the animal hospital where I work.

And if anyone on GP would like one, just send me a pm
