Arrow ::Updates::

I know I haven't posted in the longest (I have been lurking), but I was just afraid of bashing and whatnot, but now I'm ready to speak about whats been going on with me and the dogs.

First thing though is some very tragic news, I had to put my souldog Didi to sleep. This was my eldest dog and whom I had for the longest and shared a special bond with. It was aso my first time ever putting a beoved pet of mine to sleep. She had been suffering from glaucoma (fully blind) and it had progressed. Her health kept getting worst, she also needed work on her dental and had a skin problem going on. She just didn't seem to be the same Didi, and it was the hardest decision I had to do, was let her go. But now she's in a better place and isn't suffering anymore.

Her last day was a good one, she ahd a walk one of her favorite things to do, and had some kfc chicken with bones. And her last moments was was quality time with me getting cuddled and scratched on her neck (she loved that), and me telling her she was my woogie woogie. I miss saying that.

R.I.P. Baby Girl I miss you so much!!

Now for the news I dreaded to tell anyone on here. I had an oops litter with one of my dogs, Princess the shih poo. I already had an oops litter with my dog Didi, and I just didn't think anyone would take me as a responsible owner anymore hearing about a 2nd oops litter.

She bred with my sister's shih tzu Lucky. The pups were born on 02/10/08. Had a total of 6 pups, 4 boys, 2 girls, natural birth, great delivery I was there the whole time (first 3 were 10 minutes apart, two hours later the other 3 were born), she cleaned all them off, ate the placentas, real good 1st time mom, she was also good with letting me handle the pups, everything went well. Unforunately though one pup, a girl, becamed chilled, had a slow heartbeat, and didn't suckled on the 2nd day and died. She was the first born and the smallest. Then on the 3rd day, Princess knocked over a bowl of water that was in the crate with her and the pups, and the pups got wet. We rushed the pups to the vets, they got heated up, but before we got there, the 2nd born, a boy, was too chilled and weak and didn't make it. I tired my best and put worth alot of effort to try and save these pups, and it killed me that I couldn't.

Now for as the momma, and for my other unspayed dog Princess the doxie, they're getting spayed in May at this event my city for s/n pets so this doesn't happen again, I was planning to get them both spayed anyway, but this ordeal happened first. And I'm not even going to not take fault in all this, because I should of been watching my unaltered female in heat with my sister's unaltered male more carefully, and I really should of had them separated at all times, and I didn't. I KNEW better, I don't know what else to say, I know the consequences of what could of happened, but even though nothing did happen (besides losing two pups), I am going to learn from this and come May I'll never have to worry about something like this happening again, instead of hoping it doesn't and saying I'll try my best for it not to happen, it just won't happen again, period.

All the pups have homes. I'm keeping one, my sister is keeping one, my friend is keeping one, and my sister's co-worker is keeping one (the only girl).

My friend had a shih tzu before, and the other day we went and brought puppy supplies.

My sister's co-worker has a lab and also is getting her spayed when she's old enough.

They were all given away and I made sure they went to good homes and they were going to be taken good care of, had the vet care they needed, and owners whereas I can get updates on how the pups are doing and have meet-ups/playdates then and there. And trust me this was not easy, I had to struggle with my sister's choices of who one of the puppy was going to, and thankfully I won the battle and got him placed in a good home. And I also put my foot down with my family's idea to sell the pups to make profit off them.

As for other pets, I only have left two parakeets (Toto & Kiki), so now my focus is now more on the dogs and I'm more able to spend more money and time on them.

Pictures & Videos (I have from birth-now, and birth was 2/10 so its going to be ALOT!!)

Sorry for the crappy pictures & poor videos, my ex-boyfriend has my digital camera at the moment (which I'm STILL patiently waiting for its return) and all this time I've been taking cell phone pics and videos.

They were all named after designers by the way.

Here's momma & her first born a baby girl, Chanel.

She unforunately was one of the ones who didn't make it.

The 2nd born, Armani, who also unforunately did not make it, a baby boy, Armani. I knew he was a boy, before he was out the sac, he was already making a fuss, and I knew it had to be a boy.

The 3rd born, a baby boy, Valentino. He has almost the same markings as momma. Oh and he has one blue eye & one brown eye!! {{the one I'm keeping}}

Now these 3, I don't know the order the were born in, I thought it was just the three and to come to my suprise later on she had three more!

Baby girl, Coco. She's the same colors as momma. She's the one my sister's co-worker is keeping.

The only girl left in the litter out of 4 pups.

Baby boy, Hockey Versace. My sister is keeping him. His name was Versace, but my sister renamed him Hockey as a combination of her two dogs HOney+lucKy. He's the troublemaker/playful one of the bunch.

Baby boy, Louis Vuttion aka ''Louie''. This is the one is the most chilled of the bunch, and is the one my friend is keeping.

Look how tiny he was!!

While bored waiting I got this cute picture of Hockey and Louie drinking water.

I made a video and called it 2 Pups 1 Cup....the cutest version of that digusting video out there getting so much attention nowadays (which i advise DO NOT WATCH, ESP. YOUNGER VIEWERS!!)....but the reactions you see on youtube to people watching it are a sure kick!! FUNNAY!! Some do contain bad language though. I do want the theme music to the actual video on this video though, just for the kicks of it...anyone know how to edit it?

I'm not really sure what to say. I hope these pups are going to be spay/neutered before they are placed in their new homes. Or at the very least you should have spay/neuter contracts drawn up that require the new owners to fix the dogs before 6mths. I'd hate for them to be part of yet another 'oops' litter.

Having said that, I'm very pleased and proud of you for spaying both your dogs (and I hope your pup will be neutered as soon as he is old enough). Well done! What's done is done, past is past...and all that. But now you have no excuses for the future.

Oh, I didn't realise they were given away before 8 weeks. You know it's actually illegal in a lot of places to rehome puppies younger than 8 weeks, and it's a basic rule that small/toy breeds and mixes shouldn't leave their mum until they're 12 weeks old. But certainly not before 8 weeks, regardless of how independant they seem.

Cass.

I'm really sorry to hear that you had to get Didi put to sleep, it's a horrible decision to have to make.. She sure was a cutie.

Its such a shame to hear that your dog had a litter, but at least you are taking full responsibility for your mistakes. It seems like common sense to keep a female (who's in heat) away from an entire male, but as Cass said, what's done is done and there's no going back. I would have been careful letting Lucky loose with Princess again, as dogs' heat cycles last for an average of three weeks (21-days). The length a dog is pregnant for is about 2-3 months, and if the pups are about 8 weeks old, she'd be close to coming in to her next heat I would assume.

These pups were born february 10th so that makes them a few days shy of 7 weeks? Right?

Yeah, and they're still here with me!! Where did I say they were with their owners? Just that their owners have agreed to s/n, doesn't mean they have them now. Sorry for the confusion! My sister is getting her dog on the 5th and my friend is getting his dog on the 7th. Coco however was DOGNAPPED by my sister, because she promised the owner she was going to give it to her last week while I was at school. I was very upset by this matter!! And even though I got her sites about how it is ILLEGAL and why is it so important and critial for their development to stay with the mom & littermates, but I didn't get through her and she went and took the pup. But from what my understanding the pup has been adjusting well and loves her lab-sibling, but I'm very upset that she couldn't wait two more weeks for the dog!!

The whole 12wk. rule I just recently found out about with smaller breeds, while I was searching for information why its important to keep the pups with the mother at 7wks, but I already promised at 8wks.

Swiftwind thanks for the info, Lucky went home to my sister yesterday. Her dogs were at my hosue, because the apartment they were staying at didn't allow dogs and they found out about them. And thank you very much for the sympathy.
