I know this is weird, but I never realised how long Danes' backs are... I think I must be so used to my munchkin kids.

Some Great Dane are very long lol. Actually, Rio isn't nearly as long as some of the other Great Danes i've come across. My mom's female Fawn Great Dane, Jersey, is extremely long lol. She's probably a foot or more longer than Rio.... but she's an adult so she's also a lot more stocky built than he is, now. I'll have to post some pictures of Jersey someday soon.

I really like that picture too. Great Danes are wonderful dogs, they really are like no other breed that i've ever owned before. In a way, they are so smart that they almost seem extremely human-like in their behavior and antics. There is a saying among Great Dane breeders and lovers alike, "Once you own a Great Dane, there will always be a gentle giant in your life" and I do believe that to be very true.
