Halloween Class
Rugby went to his first really class last night. He is still quite a ways from where the other dogs are, but he kept up very well. We just did stays and he stayed for longer than we have been practicing and from farther away than we have been practicing. I think just the fact that all the other dogs were staying helped him keep still. It was funny though, when we did individual recalls he did really well and ran for me, but when we called multiple dogs at a time he was a little slower, and I though he would be faster tring to keep up with them...hmmm. Anywayz--on to the pictures!

Great pictures, although I had to laugh when I saw the group stay picture...poor Rugby's the only one on a leash. LOL Oh well, he'll learn.

Jake as my favorite out of all of the outfits...he looks so handsome.

Thanks! Yup, Rugby was the only puppy. It isn't really a class like...you enroll or something. It is more of a 'get together' for all the dogs that have gone through one of the training programs there. It is to get the dogs out, touch up on sticky things and practice and challenge the dogs. And by 'not quite where the other dogs are' I mean...really behind (rugby hasn't finished a "program"). Everyone else except Caruso in the class has a retrieve and all of them have a stand stay down stay send away/ place, drop on recalls to name a few. But luckily for rugby they did easy stuff for him last night.

He probably could have been off leash, but I didn't really trust him. All of those dogs he sees a lot becayse they come for day care or board when their owners are out. I thought for sure that during the stay I would be chasing him down while he tried to entice one of his buddies to play with him. But he only broke once during the down stay (and rugby doesn't even have a down yet so he just found his way there by himself) when one of the other humans came towards him and he couldn't help but say hello. I was proud of him!
