Here are a few pictures of life at the lake:
View of just a little part of the lake from boat. There are many islands and it's a huge lake. ![]() My dear, departed Bonnie swimming at the golf course ![]() Bonnie chillin' at the lake ![]() Bonnie & Jose on trail by lake ![]() Bonnie & Lyric on hike in woods ![]() Jose & Chulita in yard ![]() Outlook from porch...pasture below. Normally seen are snowy mountains above those hills, but it's a hazy day here. ![]() So, that's a little sample of what it's like here in north Idaho. ![]() |

Gosh, I can't find my last roll of film. I've done it again! Grrrr. I had a roll I just took out. Gotta find that. I lost one before with pictures of Lyric in agility class a long time ago. I'm so ticked! |

Thanks Calgal,
The view is nice. That picture doesn't show the mountains behind the hills. But it is a pretty place. I only own 5 acres, but there is a lot of acreage behind me which is forest service land....thousands of acres. And over by the lake is more of the same. So, that is why I do so much off leash walking and everyone assumes the worst and probably thinks I'm so irresponsible because there's always a chance for them to run to a road and get hit, right? But anyhow....there are so many places to hike which are far away from a road and plus, my dogs are wusses. They're too chicken to go more than about 100 feet away from me. LOL. The more likely danger here are bears. But they're usually wusses too, especially when Jose is on the loose. LOL. |

Oh Carrie that is sooooo nice. I have never been to Idaho and I want to go soooo bad. We have a lot of water and parks and "forest" area too and I just love it--so glad to be away from the big city. Do you have a lot of tourists there? As you said not much men here either--or worth a flip anyway!!!!!! Minta

Well, all of Idaho doesn't look like this. Like lots of states, there are different sceneries and climates. This is the extreme north part of the panhandle and as soon as you drive about 40 miles away, it starts looking different and even less green the further you go. It gets more farmy in some places and dry and hot others. It can get pretty hot here in summer. But it's usually fairly mild in winter comparitively speaking. But the last two winters it got down to 30 below for about a week. That isn't that common. This is in the Selkirk mountains so we do get mountain weather and a huge variety of trees. It's actually quite a unique ecosystem here, still quite intact and undisturbed by human beings. We get some tourists here in summer as well as winter....not a lot. In summer there's the lake, great fishing boating, water sports and a few nice resorts...not fancy condo type, but cabins on the lake...a couple with fine restaurants, one a five star. In winter it's the snowmobilers, skiiers etc. There are 400 miles of groomed trails for snowmobiling, skiing, hiking and so forth. There are black bear, grizzly, elk, deer, moose, wild turkey. And a lot of people come here to hunt. Drawbacks: #1) No men....(at least not ones worth a flip) LOL. #2) No work #3) Everybody knows absolutely everything about you. They know so much that they know it before you. And they have to tell you about it so you'll know. I tried ordering by phone down at the little cafe a sandwitch for someone who was here. We wanted take out. As soon as I described the sandwich, the owner said, "Oh....is that for Robbie?" "Yup." First names only....always first names. LOL. #4) You get so unstressed here and lazy that when you go visit the city, you can hardly stand the stimulation, even if it's good stimulation. You want to visit, but you can hardly wait till you get back home. LOL I bet it's like that where you live too. |
