Rescued A litter of pups (Cute puppy alert)

My friend April and I did some errands yesterday, and her nephew ended up coming along. We went to her Brother-in-laws house to drop him off, and across the street (This was a pretty poor neighborhood) there were puppies...and they were just all over the place (In the street, in other people's yards, under piles of garbage). Their mother (Who gets pregnant every heat) was chained up in her "Owners" yard and the puppies were just wandering free. Apparently they let them do that so people will take them. Yes, of course we ended up taking all 5 (not sure if how many there were total, and if other people took them already). We only had them a few hours, and then they went to the rescue we volunteer at. Two of them were very lethargic, and didn't have much of an appetite, where as the others were STARVING! You could tell the canned food we gave them was their first meal. And only a couple of them had puppy breath, the other's breath smelled like feces (You could tell they were eating poop to supplement their diets of their mothers milk and whatever garbage they had been eating.

Here are the pics! They are SUCH cuties!! We can see Shepherd in them, Rottie in one, hound,Pit possibly, maybe a type of mastiff. They are mized with a lot of breeds i'm sure.There is a picture of their mother as well. We are going to get her when they let her off the chain again (Her brother in law said she always was off chain,until she had the puppies, I guess to keep the momma from wandering with them).

Boy #1. Big squishy face! Acted lethargic most of the time.

Girl #1. Very food aggressive at such a young age! Attacked her siblings.

Boy #2. was the most lethargic. My favorite as well,if I could have kept him I would have! Such a BIG boy! The biggest of them all.

Girl #2. The oddball! She was the biggest girl, and the second biggest. She vomited in my car.

Lastly, girl #3. The smallest. She has the most shepherd face out of them all. She was a sweetie, and super friendly. (She is the one that went to the bathroom, and it was very firm and healthy looking)

I looove the Rottie looking one! Glad they're in good hands now, and hope they all find homes. Momma looks so different than the pups! Are you able to call AC since the mom is illegally chained? I think I remember your local AC being useless, but thought I'd mention it.

Yeah, we have tried calling the AC on other chained dogs...they don't come out. They are useless.

Oh my gosh, what adorable pups!

Girl #3 has a really sweet look about her. It's so lucky that you spotted the pups and were able to take them home with you. Hopefully they will have a clean bill of health at the shelter, and find great homes. Does the shelter let you know when 'your' dogs have been adopted?

Hmm, the boys have such a round, thick muzzle... reminds me of a chow or like you said mastiff (maybe boxer?). Whatever they are, they're cute and I hope they find loving homes!

Hopefully soon enough you guys can rescue poor momma dog. She looks like a sweet girl.

Oh yes, the shelter will call us. They always do whenever one is adopted. Even when we brought in a pregnant dog, they called when she was giving birth to let us come by and watch.

Momma dog is next on the list! We are waiting for my friend's sister to let us know when they have let her off the chain again to wander, then we will make our move.

It's great that you've took in those poor pups. I can't stand to see strays running around, it's truly pitiful! I hope you can get the Momma Dog too....no do deserves that life.
