Dog show today.

Quite an intersting show, some unexpected events, some funny! LOL Pulling in to the parking lot, there were two Weims off to the side on the grass mating (with about 3 handlers on standby). Wasn't quite prepared to see THAT at the show, but I guess "when the time's right"....

Anyhoo, on to the pics. I appologize, I really did cut the amount down my 1/4 of the total I took!

This guy was such a cutie! Won best of breed.

This beauty won best in the junior handlers section.

This kid showed tremendous showmanship! Cute lil Papillon to boot. Won best of breed (beat out his mum! LOL), and took 2nd or 3rd (can't recall) in juniors.

This guy was a hoot! When I was arriving at the show he was outside, and he DID NOT want to go back in! HAHA Could just see his butt and hind legs planted in resistance.

Gorgeous Setter!

Such a ham!

Meet Bunny!

So cute!

Poodles were out cold, apparently tired of waiting to go on! HAHA

I loved this guy! Got to give him a treat too! *Do I need to tell you it took him about a millisecond to realize I had it?*

Beautiful dog, but the handler was a complete snob!

This guy was adorable!

This one was kind enough to give my camera lens a big sloppy kiss. LOL

Not one of the mastiffs at the show were over 16 months of age. These two were both under a year!

First time I've seen (in person) a Karelian Bear Dog!

This beauty won best puppy and best of breed. Only 10 months old!

This dog was gorgous! Can't really see in the pic, but she's a "red". Didn't place, but I think that was more to do with the handler. Had my mother, friends and I busting a gut, she appeard to be drunk (or maybe just ran like a drunk?), and almost fell about 10 times during her trot around the ring.

Loved the "Ewok". haha

Gorgeous!

The owners/handlers at this show (apart from the one) were all amazing! I got chatting pretty good with one of the Mastiff and Boxer owners, and we exchanged emails. I did get asked from one woman if I was with the newspaper! LOL

Oh, I have to add........

I was VERY disappointed with the only 2 Rottweilers at the show. The one was structurally nice, but acted up the entire time, wouldn't stand still, kept jumping up and the owner kept (with quite a lot of force) grabbing ans squeezing the dogs snout telling her to "cut it out". It never did get into a stacked position.
The other I though at first was about a 6 month old puppy. Ended up being 2 years old, couldn't have weighed more than 60lbs (and that's being generous, was likely closer to 50lbs), was about the same height as a Cocker Spaniel........and the saddest part, she has been bred before (obvious by the sagging teats). Structurally the dog looked nice, but it was a "miniature Rottweiler", not AT ALL to standard.

Awesome photos BB

Check out the shine on that setter

That is so sad about the rotti - I really hope it doesn't become a common sight in the show ring

The pics weren't bad, but I could really use a mounted flash for my cam! LOL The lighting was terrible in the ring, ok everywhere else. The pop up flash just didn't cut it.

Forgot to mention too, that the tiny Rotti was also timid, even scared to a point. While "reserved" around new people is ok, it's not a breed that should cower.

I went to this venue 2 years ago as well, 3 different Rottis, and I wasn't impressed with them either. The one handler at that show even struck her dog in the ring. What the?!.....

At one point I considered showing PJ, but he's far too tall for a Rotti, and his jowls are a lot more floppy than they should be. I was going to try it out more for experience in the ring, but decided against it. Don't feel it is right to enter a dog that isn't to standard in the first place. Though with what I've seen out at this show so far, he probably wouldn't do too bad if I did enter him! LOL

Oooo all the pretty huskies! Don't think I have to tell you what my favorites are LOL

All of the photos are great! That boxer is so handsome!

Stinks when you end up going to a show, nine times outta 10 you look for your faves only to be disappointed... Hopefully there will be some good rotties in the future! I think PJ would take the ring, hands down!

Great photos! Thank you, I love to see examples from other countries and I'm sorry there were not more Rotties there...it is a trend here, too. I wonder if it is a subconscious thing almost, to make them more infantile/sweeter/more publicly acceptable with all of the BSL stuff?
Sometimes I swear your boy and mine are from the same gene pool personality and looks wise.....but the newer generations do keep that "puppy look" as you say. I always feel like Bernie is a giant.

Great pictures! I love the Boxer, the Danes, and the Mastiffs...and that little Affenpinscher made me chuckle. I just watched the Gremlins for the first time in a few years, and he reminded me of Gizmo!

Shame about the Rotties...I have seen some pretty badly bred ones, in both conformation and temperment, that come into work. But then one will come in that is just drop dead gorgeous and has the personality to match and I fall head over heals for the breed again.

Great pictures. Sorry I couldn't make it. I really love the cocker spaniel. I don't know what it is with some people that show dogs. I went to the Detroit dog show and people were walking around with dogs before and after showing several of them decided to go potty. They all had a shocked look like umm what should I do As several 100 people walked by. I gladly handed them a bag. Good thing I always have some in my coat LOL. Just me but when you have a dog with you make sure you always have bags Some of the people seemed like snobs. They didn't even say thank you. So I made sure to say your welcome It just really gave me a bad feeling about people that show dogs. Which has never happen at a dog show in 5 years of attending the show.

The dog in the first set picture 6 looks similar to Junior. He's black and white with the ticks all over his belly. He's also the same height (from what it looks like in the picture). The only difference is that dog is quite calm whereas Junior would be jumping up everywhere.

Wonderful Pictures!! I just LOVE dog shows!! Wish there was more here, there is only about 4 shows a year here (witch sucks!) . Was there no Akitas at this show? Great Pictures though, thanks for sharing. Cant wait to go to the next Dog show here, you just had to tease me with these dog show pictures. LOL
