Charity
I live in South Carolina with my 2 daughters ages 5 and 6. I hav to cats....Hope and Faith. We just added a new love last week. She's a dachsund/chihuahua mix, female, and 2 moths old today....her name is Charity.
I can't find a lot of info on her breed so I did a web search and found you all. I hope someone can help me figure out what type of dog she will be as she grows up. She is so precious. ![]() |

Congrats on your new one! As for what type of dog you will have, it all depends on how she's raised, genetics, and personality. Socialization and training are two of the best things you can do for your dog! When her puppy boosters are done, take her as many places as you can (without overwhelming the little one, of course), and get her used to all kinds of sights, smells, and sounds. If you haven't already, start teaching her the basics (sit, lay, stay, etc.).
She is a cute little thing! Again, congratulations. |

So far she seems to be real pleasant and funny 2 watch. If I leave her for a bit and call her name when I get home....she comes running.
She loves to cuddle in the crook of my neck. I need to get her a shirt...with the air on I have to cover her up when she sleeps. so beautiful. |

hmm well as far as tempermant it depends alot on her parents. It you raise her right with lots of love and socialization you should have a great lil dog! Dachshund are very sweet and love their owners. Chihuahuas are the same but can sometime be a little aggressive. Our chihuahua is very sweet and loving but he is VERY different from other chihuahuas, such as he is not hyper at all. I have seen many dachshund chihuahua mixes and they are usually very sweet and loving dogs. She should be pretty easy to train too.

She is sooo adoreable! She looks a lot like a long haired dachshund puppy. Is the long hair from the dachshund side or the chichuahua side? *sigh*...I can just smell that puppy breath now....
My little pups grew up so fast! Dachshunds love to be warm. My pups love to sit on the heater vent and curl up in the hot air. My pup Lucy will groan and grumble with pleasure when her little butt is on the hot vents. It is so funny to watch. Both of my dogs sleep all the way under the blankets, even in the summer time. Just like cats, they seek out the sun spots on the carpet and sleep away the day in the sunshine. They shiver when it is 60 degrees outside and whine so pitifully to be picked up. Lucy will crawl up my pajama shirt in the middle of the night to get close to my body. I have to drag her hot little body out..she is a little ball of heat and I can't sleep. Since having dachshunds I have't had to turn on the electric blanket all winter. ![]() |

Congratulations on your newest family member. She is totally adorable. I have a Chi and she is so darn sweet. She is 13 and hasn't a bad bone in her little body. She has always loved everyone including animals. She's never been afraid of anything. (she was VERY well socialized) I have a friend who has a Chi./Dachsund mix. She looks just like a tiny Dachsund but reminds me so much in personality of my own Chi., Delsi. I agree with WingedFoal. It's terribly important to socialize her. I can't stress that enough. Take her everywhere, let people and kids (under supervision) hold or play with her. Take her to parks where there are other dogs to watch. I have a 6 month old (today) Yorkie that goes with me everywhere and she is so well socialized. We have run into other small dogs who growl or snap and when I question the owners about that, I always find out the dogs are not used to strangers. Not good! Enjoy your new bundle. Also about t-shirts, I bought new born for Zada. I'm still looking for a tye-died one but no luck yet. Seems I may have to make them myself. I also made vest harness for her. They are adorable. Not good to lead a small dog around by the collar. It could damage the trechea or even collapse it. Look at me rambling on and on. Sorry, it's just that I LOVE new additions.

She's gorgeous!!!
I can't wait to see more pictures as she grows. On the whole chihuahua aggression thing (I already said something similar in the introduction thread but...), they're not suppose to be aggressive. That's down to the owner. They're actually sweet friendly dogs. My dog was never hyper (although I adopted him when he was already 5yrs old), he's very calm and good with people. The only thing you have to watch is children. Children and tiny dogs don't tend to mix because children can be quite aggressive (unintentionally) towards dogs. They want to play rough, reguardless of how small the dog is and that's a bad thing from your tiny dogs point of view. They (chihuahua's) may become defensive if they feel threatened and you don't want that, so make sure your children understand that the pup must be treated very gently. I'm sure you already know this but I'll say it just so I know I've said it... NEVER leave your kids alone with your dog. Ever... for any reason. Anyhoo... she's adorable. I love her ears!Cass. |
