What kind of puppy is DJ?

Hello,

I got DJ last Saturday and have been debating on what kind of dog she is. She is 2 and a half months. I can't upload the picture here because the file size is too big. Click on my profile and you can see her picture. http://www.globalpaw.com/pictures/sh...0&limit=recent

Border Collie mix perhaps. Perhaps staffy/bc ? It's difficult to tell with just that one picture. Do you have a profile shot?

You will never know for sure unless you actually find out what her parents are, of course. Sometimes mix breeds look nothing like their two parent breeds.

Cass.

It is really hard to tell with just the one shot. How much does DJ weigh at 2 months?

Yes....I just can't resize them to fit. Tried loading them on my members page like before....says it uploaded but nothing shows up...shelter said lab/smooth collie. I thought border collie also, mostly because of her exact markings with other puppies I have seen.

The vet guess border collie/lab and a little beagle. Is it possible for a bigger dog to breed with a small dog?..One time before I had a dog they said was a lab/maltese.

Yes it's possible for a large dog to breed with a small dog. Problems occur, of course, when the female is the smaller of the two.

Now that you've said it, I can see that it could be bc/lab. Some border collies are smooth haired so perhaps one of the parents was mis-identified as a smooth collie? Your average person couldn't tell a rottweiler from a yorkie.

Cass.

EDIT: Try uploading the pictures to www.photobucket.com or www.tinypic.com instead of Global Paw.

Now that someone mentions the border collie/beagle cross (I almost calld it a bollie.. ) I met one at the pet's hospital who had just been rescued and I beleive he was that age, and when asked what he/she was, he said border collie/beagle. So it very well could be. Whatever DJ is, she is gorgeous

Thanks for your guesses! It's always tough when you don't know the parents. Could there be a chance that it's a purebred? There was a whole litter of them....some were white with brown eyebrows. How old is the dog when it gets its coat. Read some place that border collies usually get their coat when there 7 months. Any truth to that. If you can tell in the picture..the white hair is longer than the black for some reason.

Yes there is a chance of him being purebred but it will be hard to tell until the pup is older and looking more like an adult. Sure is cute though!!!

BTW yes big dogs can mate with little dogs as I know someone with a Lab/JRT

My guess is BC/Beagle. I wouldn't think she would be more than 20 pounds full grown though. She sure is cute!
