Ya gotta check this out. LOL.

Came across these old pictures of my GSD and my daughter, Emily. LOL. You can see him coming in for the kill and then the finished deed.

I loved that dog. He was my childrens' most trusted caretaker and playmate. They learned a lot about wrestling. I sat down and drank coffee while he babysat. LOL.

Are GSD really good with children? I would worry because they are so much bigger than a child.

See that little toddler in the picture? She's now 25 yrs. old. LOL. That dog and my Lab were the best dogs with kids I ever could hope for. Shepherds are just that....shepherds of flocks....so loving and protective and smart. (generalization, but pretty typical breed trait) Usually it's the small breeds that might tend to be worse with children, as they can't withstand much roughness, lest they get stepped on or hurt.

(thanks sonja! Yes...great memories, fantastic dog)

Wonderful picutres! I have some similar pictures of me and my GSD from when I was a kid. My parents got her when I was less than a year, so I grew up with the GSD - she was the BEST dog ever! GSD's are very protective and loving of thier families - If I ever get another I wouldn't hesistate to have it around my (future) kids! They just get a kinda bad rep for some reason.... Personally, I love them! And those pictures Carrie are the sweetest - really show the loving nature of the breed. Actually, those pictures make me want to get another one REALLY badly. (do you think 2 cats, a beagle, and a GSD is too much for a one bedroom apartment!? ) Thanks for sharing the pictures Carrie!

Teddy is great with kids and he's a lab/coonhound mix. he is an absolute disaster at times lol a bull in a china shop BUT when there are children around he is very gentle. He just seems to understand that they are small and that he has to be careful. I don't have children of my own yet but when we do I know he will be wonderful with them.
