My foster Sandy has settled in
Sandy is right at home here now. He has a problem with furniture though, we always are telling him to get off. He and Magic have had a normal day today. Gator mouth in the morning, a long nap and a race around the dining room table, then another nap. They eat different foods so I feed Sandy in his crate and he snarfed all of it down in record time (we are feeding him 1 3/4 cup per day) He's sooo thin it almost makes me cry. I don't know what they did to him but he's really untrusting of adults. Kids are fine but we are the enemy. I managed to get the nails on one foot trimmed before he started to snarl at me. He also had a sit down in Magic's bath tub so he's know about it before he had to get wet in it. He's so dirty he needs a bath but I'm gonna wait a few days before I try to tackle that. I just don't think he's ready for it yet. He's had to take care of himself for a long time and doesn't want anyone to do anything to him yet. We praise him constantly and he is beginning to respond by wagging his tail.
I can tell he's a runner though, every time I take him out side he checks the fence line and the gates to see if they are really closed tight. I think he'd bolt out of any door that was left open for a second or two too long. A fully fenced yard will definately be needed for this scamp. |

Just make sure that who ever adopts him will take him to obedience classes. Sounds like he really needs it.
I'm glad he's making a little progress. Maybe you could make up a dry shampoo and massage it in and brush it out. He would probably be just fine with that. ![]() |

Poor Sandy I am glad you have him. I have no idea what is the proper thing to do with a dog like that but my natural reaction would be to it quietly and lavish him with gentle touches and soft talk.
Oh and naturally fatten him up ![]() Sounds like he might think he is a houdini so better keep those gates well latched ![]() |
